Second of all I'd love to hear more about how you see Bumblebee and Optimus relationship, cause don't get me wrong I love Optimus dad and Bee son but at time..... (especially in Tfone) Optimus does lowkey treat Bee like his emotional support dog, cause he loves Bee when he's his "young scout still so full of hope and joy", but because of the war Bumblebee basically becomes Optimus in a sense, he's seen war and now has a more depressing mindset so Optimus doesn't want to deal with it and just start ignoring Bee. Obviously not in a malicious sense and honestly he probably doesn't even know that he's doing it, and that's why Bee even when he's older and a more experienced scout still listen to Optimus and Elita-1 cause he doesn't want to upset more (at least that’s my opinion)
( one of my personal head cannons is the reason Bumblebee is lowkey dumb down in a lot of new media is because he trying to be silly and appease Optimus but it's not working)
( side note..... Elita-1 does it too, I feel like she expects Bee to listen to her no matter what, ACTUALLY not even lowkey the autobots instigate it by not doing anything and not helping prime whenever Prime upset "Bumblebee will take care of it", "Bumblebee go talk to Optimus", "don't worry Optimus Bumblebee on the way to help", )

WOOWWW first off thank you second off thank you for opening these floodgates i have so many opinions on them /silly. i got so excited seeing this ask in my inbox omg i love your headcanons ,, ANYWAYS
to be totally honest its hard to say i really do view them as father-son like full stop, just depends on the continuity which by that i mean mainly its only g1 that i see them like that. other stuff like tfa and aligned are another very big can of worms in terms of their relationship. i just think sometimes its more fun to think about characters in the most convoluted and complicated way possible than the first avenue of interpretation does that make sense???? take this diagram
even so it doesnt really matter what continuity hes in, bumblebee usually still takes on a "moral backbone"/support role to the rest of the team, hes just usually the one who keeps everyone together. that i think is where a lot of the complexes he has going on stem from, that need to be not only useful but wanted/held in kind regard too. the episode from tfp where bee lost his tcog comes to mind, just fighting tooth and nail to keep his place and serve the others on his team.
this complex is where i take issue with prime. it legitimately makes me feel like im going insane but [ESPECIALLY with aligned op] optimus is absolutely a terrible person??? like, i feel like way more than people talk about? the disrespect/disregard for everyone around him is legitimately insane, he manipulates and just mentally fucks with everyone because he knows that nobody can really fuck with him back. As much as the narrative paints him as a hero in contrast to megatron, hes still just that, a foil to megatron, they have the same role and same habits, theyre the same person, theyre just as corrupt as the other. optimus just has the bonus of having good political opinions sometimes. [hell in tf in general megs and op are made so often to BE the decepticon/autobot cause when i really think, for the health of everyone involved, they should just be the figureheads of these much bigger movements, anywaysuh].
as much as the thought behind it is noble, optimus is still a millitary leader, whether he wants to or not he still nurtures a very dehumanizing [detransformerizing?] enviroment in the name of "good soliders" and to win the war. because his goal isnt the autobot cause, whatever that is anymore, its to win. the war is extremely beneficial to him politically whether ppl wanna awknowlege that or not, the whole omega key thing in tfp comes to mind [literally destroying the one way to revive your home planet just so the other guy cant get that political edge over you is still fucking INSANE to me, like OPTIMUS... WE NEEDED THAT.....]. hes a PRIME, hes a DICTATOR. [hey hey wait this isnt important but another word for a dictator is "autocrat" which if you squint sounds like autobot thats really funny to me </3. anyways]. and thats another thing, [this was a thing in the comics that im so glad they at least awknowleged but] nobody within the autobot ranks is really allowed to question his leadership, whether or not they like the guy doenst matter all of them still recognise that You Absolutely Cannot Go Against Optimus. bad bad situation just in general.
this all factors into how i view optimus and bees relationship. to put it into layman terms Yeah Theres No Way This Is Healthy For Anyone Involved. [another foil for megs and starscreams relationship but shhh thats for another day]. bee is described again and again as being someone rather eager to please and combined with optimus thriving on submission with no real reciprical affection on his part its just soooo horrible i love it. to be honest i think thats why im enjoying/enjoyed rid2015 and earthspark so much despite the fact both are shit ass and nobody else should watch it. a lot a LOT of what i think about with them is tackled in those shows just due to the fact that bee ISNT playing a supporting role this time, i mean he still is but i mean that hes the leader now, for once hes allowed to take on a more assertive role and be respected thusly [even if it took everyone a second to do so]
i think about this scene on a regular basis and at this point its burned into my eyelids so i see it on repeat whenever i close my eyes
expierencing rid2015 as a day one optimus hater and gods strongest starbee shipper feels like huffing paint fumes then robbing a gas station like legitimately where the fuck am i. anyways.
to me at least it just feels like optimus is constantly putting down/shoving bee away in a corner [need i remind you that before the events of earthspark, op put bee into hiding for 15 years completely devoid of contact with anyone else to the point where like people thought he was dead.] even since like g1. bumblebee can never be allowed to be his own person/leader because i think optimus NEEDS to feel like hes in charge. if the whole orion pax stuff is anything to go after, optimus was essentially robbed of his innocence and placed imediately firsthand in war. [this goes for a lotta primes really but like] primacy and the trauma that came with the title was just forced onto him without being able to fully mature as a person yet. optimus doesnt know how to function without taking on this role [they even say this in the comics]. he needs someone like bumblebee in order to feel like himself, like you said very emotional support dog. this is how rid2015 gets me because this is a bee that has grown past the people pleasey part of himself and instead we see him following [literally] in optimus's footsteps. and ironically, this is the same reason why their relationship feels so extremely tense compared to the previous show on the timeline tfp, wherein bee LITERALLY did not have a voice himself. earthspark is also this way but less so i think due to es bee having zero expierence mentoring another person and also perhaps the 15 year isolation maybe didnt entirely help him feel supported and assured in himself but thats me /silly.
optimus and bee just kind of feed into eachother and enable/exacerbate the worst aspects of themself and that is why theyre so horribly fascinating to me. at least thats how i interpret it
