There's something interesting about the fact that the club uses a feminist aesthetic. Coz the whole thing about flappers were that they were rebelling against social norms - embracing thing like smoking, drinking, and sexual freedom that were frowned upon for women. Caleb's entire band is made up of women, and the only people in the club with serving roles are men. The men double as waiters and dancers, but the women are solely socialite dancers

But at the same time, it's very much not a feminist environment. Everybody in the club is owned and controlled by Caleb, and he seems to completely underestimate how much the guys care about Julie. It isn't until the very last scene of the show that he even thinks about Julie, despite the fact that she's probably more powerful than the boys. And even when he does change his focus to Julie, he still seems to be more focused on the guys instead of Julie herself. We never actually see what he was gonna do (fuck you, Netflix), but he was probably planning on getting to the guys through Julie instead of targeting Julie's own powers

Caleb's using a feminist movement as an aesthetic in his club, but he still only ever seems to care about what men can do. It's just really interesting to me how consistently Caleb falsely leverages something to benefit him and his club. He's so well written and it's really cool to see just how much of his front is a complete farce to get his own way
