I just rewatched Season 14, Episode 13 - the one where Dean is willing to trap himself in a box that does not unlock, let himself be dropped into the ocean, all to contain the archangel Michael. A box with no escape. Eternal isolation. And he agrees to it without hesitation.

And then there’s Season 10. When Dean has the Mark of Cain - when he knows he’s losing control, not really through any real fault of his own - he asks Cas (angelic boyfriend COUGH) to kill him if he goes too far.

Dean is willing to die at the hands of the people he loves if it means keeping others safe.

Dean is willing to be buried alive at the bottom of the ocean with an archangel who controlled him, used him, stripped him of any power - and Dean still says, I’ll do it.

So no. You do not get to reduce him to a list of sins and call him a bad person.

Also, if one of you dumb fucks says, “Well, he tortured souls in Hell for ten years-” I swear to chuck.

Dean was in Hell for forty years. He was tortured. He was offered a way out

- torture souls instead of being tortured -

and he said no.

Thirty. Years. For three decades. Thirty years of nonstop, unimaginable suffering, and he still refused.

After those 30 FUCKING YEARS, Dean broke, and said yes.

I would break.

You would break.

Anyone would break.

The fact that he held on for that long, just so he wouldn't torture others, thats strong. And by no means a reason he is a bad person.

“Erm, he said he liked torturing souls when he did it though!”

One - When he got back to earth, those memories haunted him. Plagued him. He regrets it, and hates what he did.

Two - Are you seriously telling me that decades of extreme, constant torture wouldn’t completely mess with your brain?!

That it wouldn’t warp your perception, your coping mechanisms, your sense of self?!

Trauma changes people. Survival changes people.

Saying he “liked it” after being broken down for thirty years is not evidence that he’s evil - it’s evidence that Hell did exactly what Hell is designed to do.

That is not grounds to call someone a bad person.
