Going to University to get a degree in Anthropology never prepared me for my current and favorite job, being a Braille Transcriber.
Like I said, I went to University to be an anthropologist. I decided to go into the field because of my love for learning about different cultures. It took several changes to my major, but I finally settled. I interned at a CRM (Cultural Resource Management) firm, that specializes in field work to determine if a company or government entity is planning on building on anthropologically significant sites.
I was in between jobs in 2018 so I decided to substitute teach so I could make money. I mainly worked in Special Education and I loved it, so I started looking for jobs in the Special Education division of the same district I was substitute teaching for. I found a job for a Braille Transcriber, a job I didn't know existed, I was excited about the prospect of being a Braillist but I didn't know if I would be qualified for it. My parents thought I should apply so I did. I got the job and now I'm a Braille Transcriber for the visually impaired, and I love it.
There will be more things to come on the subject.
