Im beginning to wonder if it’s also art elitism on top of purity culture too. People hold books and movies and shows that depict crime separate from fanfic and art that depicts crime because fan authors and artists aren’t “approved” by anyone to write/create. But if you’re published or work for a studio, you must have been “approved” by the publisher or the studio. And that’s insidious. Those are corporations you’re making the definers of art. They don’t care about anything except what makes money. That’s how you suck all the human soul out of culture.

Always remember that the EU did a study in 2013 about the effects of piracy on media publishers and found that there is no correlation between piracy and sales! (And then they tried to hide that study bc that's not the result they wanted)

So piracy is at worst not even a problem, and at best it's free advertisement.
