@what-a-b0re so uhhhh, what do u think my girl Eileen’s sign is?
• first impressions– the dark mysterious type. But theres more to her than that. She may be moody at times but she has an excellent intuition and a lot of love to give. Cancer.

It’s been a long time but i needed to hop on here to give a shoutout to my perfect rancho Belafonte for molting and doing so good!!! She (i assume bc she’s old and hasn’t grown much) is darker and shinier and HUGE! I’m so proud of my Bela baby. She’s getting a great enclosure update soon too :)
A general reminder—periodic cicadas pose no threat to anyone and their plant damage is limited to nipping off the ends of twigs. Please do not hose them with pesticide. They are slow and clumsy and confused and only want to make friends with other cicadas and eventually die of sexual exhaustion.
Yes, the screaming is a lot, but they’ve been extremely quiet neighbors for thirteen years, cut them some slack as they go through the most fraught time of their lives.

Ever seen a poodle moth?
"Poodle moths" (often also called "Venezuelan poodle moths") are a yet to be properly identified animal species. We do not know much about them, if they exist at all, and anything claiming that a moth is a poodle moth is false. More easy information on the hoax at Snopes here.
I looked at other videos of the moth from the OP (the TikTok), and, since they're in Tennesse, this seems to likely be a dot-lined white, a species of moth in the Lasiocampidae family. Its wings, size, habitat, and antennae all match. However, I am not an expert so I could be wrong.
"Poodle moths" are, essentially, not a thing. Let's stop spreading misinfo about them.
Bad news: “Venezuelan poodle moths” aren’t a real species.
Good news: There are multiple species of Artace out there, and they might even live in your area!
