Presenting the giraffe weevil in all its weird glory. Males have a nose about 4.5 centimeters long, about half of its total size. Female weevils do not share this so they were categorized as a different species for some time.

I haven't posted in a while, and receiving that inbox today by @caramelsprout reminded me of why I made this account. So thank you.

This weird little guy is a spittlebug or frog hopper. In their nymph stage they excrete these bubbles when they eat plant sap. Which also protects them from predators keeping them out of sight.

I haven't been updating recently on cute bugs I've been researching, I am unfortunately a college student and started my bachelor's this year. Lots of writing (boo english student boo) so here's a little bug.

Is that a spider? Nope! This is a mite. A long-legged velvet mite

Velvet mites also can look like this. This is a Trombidium grandissimum found in India but these little guys like pitbull are worldwide.

Goodbye pants!

My babies and their springtails have been doing well, it’s a new tank so of course there’s been some mold issues. I’m hoping with some extra ventilation it’ll scale back as the dirt came damp and that caused for no moisture gradient (real issue for the leaves). If not I’ll take care of it by hand.
