Calling it a current talent is probably a tiiiiny bit dishonest. It's something that Randy has always been ATROCIOUS at because he believes he can't do it. It's something that'd seem outright implausible for him to be good at, but it's something I've pictured clearly for years.

that scene is so powerful because evan and jared's relationship is so well established throughout the show. it's practically non-existent but it's present in how it's the underlying force to be the catalyst for the plot. everything they're doing, they're doing together. this is especially highlighted by the fact that alana is kept in the dark the whole time. evan and jared may not call each other friends but they are dependent on one another.

it's so cutting because it really shows us that they're two sides of the same coin. jared pushes evan away so hard at the start and by the end evan starts doing the same to him. they see past the other's bullshit at this point and are so desperate to reach their goals that they're willing to drag the other down with them.
