LIVE PAINTING PERFORMANCE CONCEPT
Trimesis
As a self-portrait painter and performer in my everyday life, I developed this performance of live painting involving: me, a tall canvas, and a tall mirror. I will curate an incredibly eye-catching outfit so that it can come to life three-fold. One of the ultimate goals is to stimulate the viewer’s attention toward the 3 completely different versions of the artist present at once (The self, the angled-reflection, and the expressive creation) This becomes a manifestation of the sign and signifier-in which all the conduits are materialized. The 3-foot long paint brush allows me to reach anywhere on the canvas while maintaining the steady pose, as I use the mirror reflection as my reference image. This is a practice I have only conducted privately, and I would love to enact it publicly , I even work better with an audience! I am 5′9 -so the mirror and canvas would reach 6 foot height, with a 3.5 foot width each, overall this would require about 4.5 square feet to create the triangle of mirror/canvas/me. I am also very willing to work with suggestions that may facilitate this better with the certain space/venue.
