like he really is good at putting himself in other people’s shoes (literally shown with how he transforms and plays the roles of a range of other cookies, as well as how he can easily tell the reason of others’ actions), but uses it to insult and break others down for his goals and amusements instead of helping them.

when i say “empathy ,” i specifically mean cognitive empathy, in which he is able to understand what others are feeling on a logical/somewhat detached standpoint without relying on any emotional or compassionate basis - he can understand others’ perspectives without feeling it himself. through this kind of empathy, he can discern what others feels, why they are feeling it, and then use it as manipulation and coercion for his own gain and pleasure.

it’s so fascinating to see, and it is also such a nice contrast to PVC - who has genuine desires to help and uplift others at the cost of himself, while seemingly struggling with empathy and putting himself in others’ shoes.
