But while the world celebrates, LGBTQ+ refugees in Gorom, South Sudan are fighting a different match,one for survival.

There are no stadiums here. No trophies. No roaring crowds.

Instead, there are nights spent on the ground with little shelter, empty stomachs, fear, discrimination, and uncertainty about what tomorrow will bring. Many queer refugees fled persecution hoping to find safety, only to continue facing hardship and insecurity.

This World Cup, we ask the global LGBTQ+ community, human rights defenders, activists, allies, and compassionate donors not to forget those whose only dream is to live in peace and dignity.

The greatest victory is not lifting a trophy,it is choosing humanity over indifference, compassion over silence, and hope over despair.

Today, another member of our LGBTQ+ refugee community was left injured after facing violence and hatred. Too many of us live in fear simply because we are perceived as "spreading homosexuality." We are human beings who deserve safety, dignity, and the right to exist without violence.

Every scar tells the story of discrimination, displacement, and survival. We are not asking for luxury we are asking for protection, medical care, food, and a chance to live in peace.

Please don't look away. Stand with LGBTQ+ refugees. Raise your voice, share our story, and, if you are able, support our efforts to help those who have been injured and displaced. Your kindness could save a life.

My heart is heavy after being contacted by a lesbian mother who is facing extremely difficult circumstances. In the video attached to this post, you can see some of the challenges she is currently enduring. As a community representative, I feel a responsibility to speak up and do what I can to help, which is why I am sharing her story and asking for support.

Sadly, her situation is not unique. Many LGBTQ+ people in our community are silently struggling with poverty, trauma, depression, discrimination, and hopelessness. Their voices often go unheard, and their needs remain unmet.

In addition to supporting this mother and her child, there are urgent needs within the community, including educational support for children. Their school requires renovations, learning materials, books, pencils, and other basic supplies to provide a safe and supportive environment for learning.

I cannot do this alone. Every act of kindness, every share, and every contribution no matter how small can make a meaningful difference. Together, we can help restore hope, dignity, and opportunity to those who need it most.
