RAIDHFIL IS BACK IN BUSINESS!
it’s been like thirty years but im HERE! Thank you to you all who waited out my hiatus. since it’s been so long, and i’ve lost a handful of followers, i’d like anyone who wants me to reply to pre-hiatus threads to like this post! if we don’t have a pre-hiatus thread you can still like this, and i’ll write you a starter! i’m going to get to work taking care of my blog, but i’m glad to be back.

Caroline listens to him speak, her mind processing the information rapidly. Hours spent pouring over mathematical problems had aided her analytical mind, and she now found herself assessing Moran and his offer in a similar light. Or rather, Moran and Moriarty’s offer. “So you’ve been sent on a head hunt. Rather unusual for you, no?” The irony of the term doesn’t escape her, and she smiles despite the intense gaze she’s now fixed him with.
“So, if I were to lend my particular set of skills to him, what category would that come under, I wonder. Private contractor or permanent employee?” She had enjoyed working privately for the freedom it granted her, the ability to pick and choose what jobs to take. But a permanent position would give her security, and she assumed she’d be able to work under some perfectly legal guise. Financial and legal security, both of which she assumed to come at high expense given Moriarty’s rumoured wealth.
“And I presume that if I were to out and out refuse - the result would not be very enjoyable. For me, anyway.” Caroline’s no fool, and she understands the ways of the criminal underground. She prefers to exclude herself from that snake pit, but she operated within their realm and could hardly ignore the way she slipped through it so comfortably. Moriarty is the most powerful man operating in London, if not Europe, and survival requires aligning yourself with whoever holds the most pieces in the game.
She smiles at him and nods. “In any case, I’d be interested in working for your employer. The reach of his business hasn’t escaped my attention. Recent acquisitions have been impressive, to say the least.” She’s smooth in her coded language, referring to criminal activity in the words of a CEO. “No convincing needed, but if I’m to work for him I would prefer a permanent position. Some form of medical arrangement, pension plan, and a front to provide to HM Revenue and Customs. Keeping as much as can be above board is always so much more conducive to a lasting relationship between employer and employee - don’t you agree?”
Sebastian’s fingers danced anxiously on his thigh, drumming out the heartbeat of his thoughts. “My employer knows what he’s doing.” He answered curtly, realizing the urge to stab her despite the fact that she’d done absolutely nothing offensive. “Your employment would begin as a temporary position. If you didn’t prove your grit, we’d send you back out on the streets and the world will be none the wiser. However, if you do prove yourself...”
He wondered whether he was supposed to elaborate, or if it was better left to the imagination. Honestly, Moran wasn’t entirely sure how the recruitment process was really supposed to work. He had never had to go through it. When he was brought into Moriarty’s employ, it was directly through the man himself. “If you do prove your worth, then we’ll give you a proposition concerning permanent employment.” It sounded formal enough. The formal speech felt foreign on his tongue, like something that wasn’t meant to be there.
And it wasn’t. Sebastian had always been keen on colloquialisms, and after some time, had dropped a professional tone even when speaking to Moriarty. Something told him, however, that the formalities couldn’t be spared. Not in this case. “He’ll be pleased to hear that you're interested. As for your concerns-- I’m afraid that they’re well beyond me. They’re something you’d have to bring up with either him or someone who is qualified to answer those questions.”
It wounded his fragile ego to admit the possibility that he wasn’t qualified to do something, but Moran knew his specialties. Even this was somewhat beyond his reach, in terms of social graces. At least it looked as if it would be over soon.

“Money can only buy so much. I think you need to remind yourself of exactly what it is that I do. I can try and hasten the transportation, but the nature and volatility of the trade puts me in this UNFORTUNATE position. Next to legalizing it, I’m doing the best that I can.”

She blushed when he pulled her closer, smiling. “If you must,” Molly said lightly, closing her eyes when he kissed her forehead. A sigh escaped her when he pulled away. But she understood. Of course she did. Work was work and someone had to do it.. Sadly it was Sebastian’s job. She wished he could stay.
Another kiss. She smiled against his lips before fetching his jacket from the back of the sofa. “Here.. Don’t forget this, it’s cold,” Molly said, walking it to him and holding it out.
Sebastian took the jacket from her, looking at her for a long second before deciding against his novel idea to kiss her again. Instead, he put his hand around her wrist, squeezing it gently (as if to remind himself that at least she was still alive) before letting go. Honestly, he didn’t particularly want to leave. Molly, regardless of whether he was kissing her or not, had company preferable to that of anyone else Moran could think of. Then again, the only other people Moran knew personally were his father and his sister, and he had no interest in being close to either of them at the moment. “I’ll see you later.” Moran finally said, the words uttered as more of a promise than an inquiry.

Sebastian shook his head. “I’m not a superhero. I’m not going to kill someone just because he’s bad. In fact, that’s usually the type of person I’m paid to keep alive.” He ran his fingers through his hair, “It’s unfortunate what happened to you, but I’m not in the business of vengeance.”

Not that’d she’d taken a breath’s moment to check. And with that she gives the dumb-ass man a grin: pearled teeth and blushed cheeks. Insult didn’t always need to bare words. did it? Peach nails gesture to a seat, purposely kicked unto its side, scraped carelessly along concrete by one of her men.
“I am closest to Nodo. Tell me wh- at your… “business” is and I’ll see about getting him down here now.”
He remained standing. In a shootout, no one wanted to be the last man to his feet.
“Very well. I’m personal assistant to a certain someone who’s interested in what he does.” Sebastian said, dancing artfully around any names or labels. “Thought if he isn’t interested in collaboration, I could just as well leave you to your devices.”

"Moriarty pays me so he can stay part of that handful.” Sebastian answered, “Though paint-balling--” the most subtle of grimaces. “-- not my speed. If I shoot something, I expect it to be dead when I finish with it.”

Molly took a soft, shaky breath as her forehead leaned to Sebastian’s. Her face was flushed a bright red and she couldn’t keep her doe eyes off of him. It had been a long while since she had been kissed.. Jim was the last one. But those kisses were few and they were possessive, to remind her who she belonged to- not something she needed reminding of, but she never had complained.. This though… This was different.
Caring. Emotion. Sentiment. She could feel the difference between Sebastian and Jim, making the line between the men thicker. And this kiss.. It solidified everything. Him initiating it showed his position was no longer just professional and polite concern; her returning it was a decision long ago made, that she’d remain at his side. She was loyal. And she had feelings for him that Jim would have scoffed at
Again he kissed her. Words in between. And then another kiss. All she had caught was that he was leaving… She frowned a little. “Must you go?” Molly found herself asking. And then she delivered a kiss of her own.
"I should.” Sebastian said, in direct contradiction with the way that he pulled her ever closer to himself. “I’d hate to leave my client waiting.” He kissed her on the forehead before finally pulling away from Molly. As much as he wanted to stay with her (and he did), Moran had his priorities. If he didn’t meet this particular client, the results would be more than unsavory. He had no interest in making any enemies, not when he’d just kissed Molly Hooper. Once more, as if to remind himself that this was real, Sebastian kissed Molly. Before he could get sucked back into kissing her again, he stepped away. Where the hell was his jacket, again? As he walked further away from Molly, he began to remember more clearly the circumstances of their meeting. Sherlock was alive. Sherlock was alive, and Moriarty was missing half his brain mass, courtesy of a bullet to the brain.

“Because I’m at a loss for options, and he’s back because he wants to kill me. I can handle the price, but for goodness sake, /please/…just get it done. I can’t let him hurt me again…” Her eyes were wide and desperate. This was no feudal matter between the two sides, Henry was neutral ground. Sherlock would gladly kill the man, but of course Mycroft had issues with that approach.
Sebastian took a moment to think. “What did he do to hurt you?” He wasn’t in the business of becoming a superhero. If this person had incurred any personal pain to her, Moran had no concerns with it. After all, he was a hitman.
