Oh boy, Glitch's done it again.
so these screenshots of Glassdoor reviews from Glitch employees have been making the rounds on Twitter recently. now i personally cannot confirm or deny the truth of the allegations told in these screenshots, but i do know this: Glassdoor is a website where employees can review the working conditions they face at the company they're employed at. it's a well-known fact that Glassdoor doesn't allow just anyone to post a review there unverified; they have to show ample proof that they actually were employed at the company they say they were. so, we can operate under the assumption that these reviews are, most likely, more or less a legitimate look into Glitch Production's inner workings. however, if i'm wrong, please let me know. tl;dr: these reviews essentially state that Glitch treats its female employees like shit (what a surprise), sets ridiculously unrealistic expectations for its workers, resorts to intimidation and threats on multiple occasions, and even coerces workers to write false good reviews to boost their Glassdoor ratings (among other horrible shit). and Boy, am i not surprised but still somehow disappointed. honestly, i didn't think my respect for glitch could sink any lower, but here we are, i guess. apparently this is the same company that's going to be "paving the way for a new generation of indie artists" or whatever. more like falling back on the very same underpaying, overworking, greedy, toxic abusive bullshit that's been plaguing the animation and entertainment industries for decades now. great work guys, thanks! you're a stain on our history and the future of animation is even deeper in the pits than it ever was. we're one step back from ever redefining and reworking the rampant malpractice, mistreatment and dehumanization going on behind closed doors. link to Glitch's Glassdoor page: https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Glitch-Productions-Reviews-E8656356.htm Link to twitter posts with screenshots and summaries: https://x.com/lumirunner/status/2057519161648333178 https://x.com/lumirunner/status/2057800789977174404

i am a victim of autistic abuse.
autistic abuse was very prevalent in my household as a child. my autistic brother had meltdowns in which he hit me and violently threw stuff at me. i recently had an horribly toxic autistic friend who couldn't communicate their emotions even though i told them several times that my mental illness symptoms are triggered and worsened when people don't communicate, and they avoided doing so on purpose -- these two are examples of what we call autistic abuse, and it is valid as a form of abuse and much more common than you believe.
these are signs to look for in order to know if a person is an autistic. if you know any person who has these patterns of behavior, it is likely that they are autistic: you must watch out for them and, if possible, completely cut them off from your life:
- seems cold and unfeeling
- can't communicate their emotions
- has poor emotional regulation skills
- is unintelligent
and didn't that make me sound like an ableist asshole?
isn't it obvious that while being autistic doesn't mean u get to throw shit at people, equating one autistic person throwing shit at me to autistic people having any direct correlation with abuse is only leading to bigotry and prejudice?
weren't those "signs to know if someone you know is autistic (so that you can prevent being abused by them)" not only invasive, but extremely stereotypical, bigoted, hurtful, straight up not neccessarily true?
isn't it clear that if i had meant a word of that, i would've been very fucking stupid?
then why is narcissistic abuse an acceptable term?

One of my professors said they don't consider anyone with Anti-Social Personality Disorder to be people. I said, trying to look casual and bored, "Aren't some people born with that, though?" They said it doesn't matter, people without empathy still aren't human. I sat there and focused on taking notes so I would look busy and not let anyone see my heart sink at how everyone in the room agreed. I was born with ASPD. Two ASPD parents = an ASPD kid. None of us are people because we were born too different. I presume my low-empathy girlfriend who has autism is also not a person, by that metric. Presumably if we had a child, that would also be a non-person.
Abled people are creepy. I know you're not supposed to say it but sometimes they really are. This shit reminds me of eugenics. I don't fully trust abled people to care about a disabled person the way they would anyone else.
