Thinking about them as always.
this one speaks for itself
I think Astele can handle quite a bit of pain without so much as a grimace, can tolerate long enough to keep er secrets in the end. But I donβt think she can take pleasure. I donβt think she has time to have sex let alone enjoy it due to immense stress. I headcannon her as breaking quickly under pleasure in comparison to her tolerance for pain. And I think Jaheira knows this. In their relationship, if Jaheira wants information Keene is not quick to provide, she can just start playing with her. Riling her up until she canβt focus on anything other than her own desperation. Distracted to the point of squirming in her seat. Astele is so sensitive itβs dizzying. She isnβt loud but she isnβt quiet as Jaheira forces what she wants out of her. Mabey keeping her on the edge or by forcing her over it again and again. Separately I also think Astele is easily persuaded by pleasure in a non sexual way as-well, of course as long as it is provided by the right person (really only Jaheira). I headcannon nine fingers as having some sexual dysfunction caused by stress and a nervous system that is constantly lit up like a Christmas tree. I think Jaheira notices how Keene holds herself in her chair, tense shoulders, clenched jaw, muscles constantly engaged. Jaheira walks up behind her in her chair and smoothes her hands over her back and shoulders, scratches Keenes scalp, wraps her arms around her. Warm tingly buzzing underneath Asteleβs skin and in her extremities, tired muscles and happy chemicals.

Birch bark was heated in underground chambers to create a tougher adhesive.
Neanderthal tools might look relatively simple, but new research shows that Homo neanderthalensis devised a method of generating a glue derived from birch tar to hold them together aboutΒ 200,000 years agoβand it was tough. This ancient superglue made bone and stone adhere to wood, was waterproof, and didnβt decompose. The tar was also used a hundred thousand years before modern humans came up with anything synthetic. After studying ancient tools that carry residue from this glue, a team of researchers from the Eberhard Karls University of TΓΌbingen and other institutions in Germany found evidence that this glue wasnβt just the original tar; it had been transformed in some way. This raises the question of what was involved in that transformation. To see how Neanderthals could have converted birch tar into glue, the research team tried several different processing methods. Any suspicion that the tar came directly from birch trees didnβt hold up because birch trees do not secrete anything that worked as an adhesive. So what kind of processing was needed? Each technique that was tested used only materials that Neanderthals would have been able to access. Condensation methods, which involve burning birch bark on cobblestones so the tar can condense on the stones, were the simplest techniques usedβallowing bark to burn above ground doesnβt really involve much thought beyond lighting a fire. The other methods involved a recipe where the bark was not actually burned but heated after being placed underground. Two of these methods involved burying rolls of bark in embers that would heat them and produce tar. The third method would distill the tar. Because there were no ceramics during the Stone Age, sediment was shaped into upper and lower structures to hold the bark, which was then heated by fire. Distilled tar would slowly drip from the upper structure into the lower one. The resulting tars were all put through chemical and molecular analysis, as well as micro-CT scans, to determine which came closest to the residue on actual Neanderthal tools. Tars synthesized underground were closest to the residue on the original artifacts. β[Neanderthals] distilled tar in an intentionally created underground environment that restricted oxygen flow and remained invisible during the process,β the researchers wrote. βThis degree of complexity is unlikely to have been invented spontaneously.β

Hello my Forgotten Realms nerds!! I sometimes run paid D&D tables and I am planning to start a game of Murder in Baldurβs Gate, technically a kind of prequel to BG3 (Ravengard and Nine-Fingers are in it, for example) that is a super fun political intrigue adventure with lots of player freedom.
However! I will not be running this in 5e, but rather in Daggerheart, which is basically a D&D knock-off made by the creators of Critical Role. Itβs way easier to run, and I think if you are a player who is more interested in RP or investigating than in combat, it gives you a way more satisfying experience. I think itβs a really good fit for this module and Iβm super excited to see it play out.
Do YOU want to see?? I would love to have some BG3 nerds at the table so that I can throw in silly Easter eggs (thirteen year old Wyll WILL be there), and if youβve never played Daggerheart or a tabletop game before Iβd love to teach you.
If you want a link, drop me a line!!

bg3 quiz except it's not just the origin characters (there are 21 different results which is why there are so many questions) (note: contains mild spoilers in terms of some of the characters you might meet, so it's recommended you complete the game first) this thing took me so long to make lmao
Thank you for the tag, @toolateintheday! My result is amazing π€© π€©
