Right, child labor laws were a thing. Frisk had all but forgotten about them. They had a job here, and they had one in their home world. True, most people didnât really recognize their job at home, but at the very least, they were trying. They made a nervous sound. Telling her that, it probably made her all the more worried about them.
âI wanted to be able to by stuff while Iâm in the city. Â Came here before my mom got here, so I had to be able to provide for myself. Apparently, the city provides a little allowance for children, but I hate living off of other people charity. I mean, I canât do much at my job, but I can do at least something.â Frisk gave her a forced smile, but of course they couldnât reassure her. A lot of people worried when they saw a child along, though most ignored them.
The little human sighed. So, she was coming with them. Well, if she was, they might as well be nice about it. They didnât want to burden her more than they already did. âWell, I guess thatâs okay. I just need to pick up one or two sweater. Thank you for the help, though, Miss Gwen. Thatâs a nice name, by the way.â
They paused for a second before extending a hand toward her. âWould it be okay if we held hand on the way there? I tend to get lost in crowds. Iâm kind of tiny.â
Gwen stopped walking, her eyes looking at the child in disbelief. âWhat, whoa whoa youâre telling me that youâre here alone?â A hand ran through her blonde locks. Oh man, this kid got their life together before me. Where did I go wrong?
She let out a little sigh. âThatâs...â a low whistle came from her lips, âImpressive to say the least. Not many people can survive on their own but you got that down packed. Props to you, Frisk. Thatâs amazing.â Gwen was beyond impressed by the childâs ability to sustain themselves in this crazy city.Â
Gwen took the otherâs had willingly. She didnât mind at all. It wasnât like the child was a creep or pure evil. Nah, she had mad respect for someone who had a good head on their shoulders. âGwen is just fine, Frisk. It makes me feel old when people call me Miss, heh.â As she held the childâs hand, Gwen couldnât help but realize just how small the other was. If Gwen had a younger sibling, she imagined that this is what it would be.Â
Except, my younger sibling would be a total brat compared to this kid.
A Strange Familiarity [Gwen]
Shit shit shit shit shit shi-Those were literally the words going through Shionâs head while free-falling from almost twenty feet in the air. The broom, oh no he didnât have to worry about that- WELL EXCEPT THAT HE LOST THE ONLY THING THAT COULD HAVE HELPED HIM LESSEN THE IMPACT OF THE GROUND!
So he was definitely not expecting to land within someoneâs arms, something that usually did not happen due to his not so savory record of battles. No- it was the fact that they literally caught him without any means of powers.
Okay Gwen, donât mess this up. Donât mess this up. @#$ this person is coming in fast.Â
The impact was more than she expect. Gwen didnât have the strength anymore, that was gone thanks to the scientists. Iâm definitely going to feel that tomorrow. With a grunt, the girl stumbled a bit before taking a kneel.
âIâm glad you were traveling light.â Gwen let out the breath she was holding. Letting the other down, she sat down. She needed a moment from that totally awesome act. âI hope youâre okay.âÂ
Damian watched her drum away, oblivious to her surroundings and oblivious to the nuisance she was making of herself. He wasnât sure how long he had watched her, at least from that corner way over there, and she showed no signs of slowing down. Irritated, Damian walked off the perch he had claimed as his own, fell down two stories, rolled to distribute the shock and stood back up. Had she even noticed?
âEver think people might not enjoy your brand of noise?â Did he really need to call her out on noise ordinance? Was vigilante work that slow? He scoffed as if to recover.âWhat are you tapping out anyway?â As part of his training, he knew of all the greats in the music world, sadly that also left out a lot of great current artist.Â
Weird, her spider senses didnât go off when the boy appeared from practically nowhere. Then again, it does work a bit slow. Gwen had stopped, her hands (and drumsticks) in the air. The way her hands were curled it, it was almost as if the girl was ready to throw some punches. Â Then she saw that it was a kid.
Her hands dropped and she gave a slightly annoyed glance. Â This kid is such a punk. The way he walks and talks just screams it.
âEver thought of the fact that people tend to mind their own business?â Gwen took in the get up the other was wearing. Super hero? No way, heâs just a kid? Maybe a wannabe? Oh man, what if heâs better than me? That would be major embarrassing.Â
âYou wonât know them. The song is called Face It Tiger, by the MaryJanes. Itâs a popular rock band from my universe.â Gwen almost added how she was their drummer...almost.
Drummer for Hire
Getting approached by random strangers didnât really bother him, by now. If anything, it was sort of fun. As Gwen posed her question, the man frowned.
âHuh? Mu~sic?â
Repeating the word with in a singsongy tone, the man struck a thoughtful expression. âOi, like, a shop with those CDs and music players? Yeah?â
ââCause I know one a those! Yeah! I listened to some golden music thereâŚ! Like, uh, like⌠whatâs the name⌠Snoopy Dog! ⌠That what you mean?â
Gwen just looked at the other, her eyes confused, mouth slightly ajar. What the-- Gwennie, you approached a nutjob! Okay maybe heâs not from around this era? Thatâs a possibility.
It was nice to know that the man was trying. Even if he came across a bit odd in Gwenâs eyes.
âYeah! Now youâre getting it. CDâs, vinyls, yâkno the works. Iâm looking to get some drums.â Gwen couldnât help but give an amused smile. The otherâs excitement and enthusiasm was endearing.Â
âOhmygod, what? Snoopy Dog? You mean, Snoop Dog?â there was no way this guy listened to him. âNext thing youâre gonna tell me is that you like the hippity hop music. If you listen to Snoopy, maybe Two-Pack is another person you listen to?â Gwen could never stop with her quips.

Frisk blinked in surprise. They werenât expecting this girl to be so nice. People had a tendency to ask children if they were alright, and once that moral obligation was satisfied, theyâd leave. Thatâs what Frisk expected, at least. Until recently, their interactions with humans had not been all that good. Before they came to the underground, the world was not nice to them.
âYou really donât have to, miss. I just need directions to the store and I can get it myself. I have the money. I mean, I have a job and everything. I can take care of it. Oh, but not that I donât appreciate the offer.â Frisk waved their hands worriedly. It was clear they would like the company, but worried she was going to get annoyed with them.
âIâm Frisk by the way. Thanks so much for worrying, Miss. It means a lot to me.â Frisk offered her a small smile. Hopefully that was enough to reassure her for now.
This kid has a job before me? Well how dandy. Gwen rubbed the back of her neck awkwardly. Okay, guess it was time for her to start looking for a job. Hell, if a kid could get one, she could too.Â
âA job at your age? Isnât there like, child-labor laws here?â Gwen was trying to be funny, but her concern came through instead. Was this kid living on their own? Was their living situation so bad that they had to get a job? Suddenly, all these questions popped up in the girlâs mind, and now she just wanted to make sure the other had everything they ever needed.
âAnd no, Iâm not gonna let you go by yourself. I swear Iâm trying not to be some creep, I just canât see a kid as young as yourself out and about. Even if you act like a grown up.â There was a reassuring smile at the end of that sentence. The other acted so sweetly and spoke in such a mature manner, Gwen couldnât believe that children like that actually existed! Well, she knew they didnât in New York.Â
âFrisk? I like that name. Sounds really cool. Iâm Gwen.â The girl wasnât entirely comfortable disclosing her name just yet, but she made the exception for the child. They seemed to have a good head on their shoulders.
â - Their first friend
âMy first friend was a boy named Peter Parker. I miss him and what I did to him ended up killing him. I wish I could go back and stop everything that I did wrong. I wish I could have been there to encourage him not to make that lizard solution. I wish I could go back and apologize...but I canât. And now here I am, stuck with my thoughts and opinions about how I was such a horrible friend.â
â
Their first kiss
âThis sounds pretty dumb but I was like 8 when I had my first kiss. It was with my best friend, Peter, too. Both of us never had a kiss before so we were like âletâs try thisâ. I remember being so grossed out from it. But thatâs what kids are supposed to do. I wouldnât change that moment, now that Peterâs gone.â

Each new day in this city brought more and more crime it seemed. As if anything could hold a candle to Gotham and yet here it was, the ultimate city plagued in bad guys sprouting up like weeds. Even if it killed her, sheâd try to make at least a fraction of a dent in this place. Itâs what the people kidnapped here deserved at the very least. If you honestly had to be kidnapped you should at least be able to live somewhere nicer, right? Come on.
Wooden staff made contact with one of their arms, knocking him back for a moment before the other girl arrived. Wow. She really needed to get used to other vigilantes showing up. It was still a shock to her so she paused, staring at her for a minute before going back to the fight as she decked a guy. Awesome! Girls who could handle themselves and have a great looking costume were a'okay in her book.
The redhead spun around, kicking back another thug then smirked at the otherâs dialogue. Okay, anyone who could quip and fight was great. Another swing of her staff and down went another bad guy.
âI know this is the perfect time to start up a conversation and all. So, hey! Iâm Batgirl. Iâve never seen you before so I can only assumeâHold onââ A gloved hand reached out to punch one of the thugs before she cast out a line of rope to trip him up, tying him up in it then looking back up at the other vigilante. âI can only assume youâre from a different world or from some city Iâm not familiar with. Do you always meet girls this way?â
Gwen paused, looking at the other. Not only could she handle her men but she could do it while keeping a conversation. Gwen was impressed, now thatâs a superhero. Her suit was pretty cool too. It was dark and ominous compared to Gwenâs white hood. She did have a lot of courage to keep her hair down.Wouldnât that be a risk with someone pulling it? Then again, every superhero has their risks.Â
âHey there, Batsy.â Okay so she didnât know her name, but that would work, right? It was pretty close to the otherâs apparel after all. âI am from another universe! Kinda sucks that we got dropped off here, huh?â She knocked out another guy. With her senses going off, Gwen was able to divert a punch.Regaining her balance, she went to attack her assailant. A small huff left the girlâs lips. Okay, she was wearing down just a bit, but thats because she had to use much more energy for her punches. âWell not for the cool ones. Most of the time, I just meet sad losers who are just way too destructive. Itâs a nice change, thatâs for sure!âÂ

Little Miss Muffet
â [ $ ] â But of course, she would never have bad words to speak to another spider fan! That would be preposterous! Her moral code may be skewed, but nothing about it conflicts with those sheâs loyal towards. And spiders are definitely at the top of the loyalty list.
âAhuhuhu~ If you want, I could tell all my spider friends that youâre also a spider fanatic! Youâll never get lost that way!â
As a monster with a not very good sense of direction, Muffet feels her sympathies in full swing. Heh, swing. Of course it helps that sheâs talking to a fan of spiders! If sheâs to be stuck here, it would be for the best if it is with other spider fanatics!
âSpider totem? I donât know what that isâŚâ She mutters, placing a hand under her chin. This is actually quite concerning to her; something spider related in this world and she doesnât know a thing about it? Whatever it is, it sounds important. âWell, itâs still nice to meet you. Iâm Muffet!â
Okay that miiiight be a little creepy for Gwen. Just all those spiders surrounding her gave her a small shiver down her spine. She didnât mind spiders but itâs different when itâs like, more than ten. Either way, it was help and Gwen was more than gracious to receive it.
âOkay, I canât really talk to spiders but that would be....nice?â she almost said crazy, only because she never had insects help her out before.Â
âSpider totems are....like the representative superhero of their universes.â Gwen tried to phrase it in a way that wouldnât give out that she was Spider Woman, âObviously these people have spider powers, but if you were to jump to another universe, they typically have a spider totem.â That was a decent enough explanation. âIâm Gwen, nice to meet you Muffet.â
A Strange Familiarity [Gwen]

Shion found out pretty quickly that causing trouble wasnât fun and was rather childish when not involving a certain blond. Though considering how busy he was at the station and not setting foot in any troublesome sectors had to deal with that as well. Although with the passing seasons, its become a lot more trouble trying to fly in cold that seeped into your clothing and soaked your skin.
It reminded him of days that he would rather forget, although he was doing it right now.
âWhy did I agree to this in the first place? Its too cold to be flying around without full protection on a broom like this.â Though that could just be a testament to Shionâs weakness to the cold and his hat traded in for the fur-lined jacket. It was making it really hard to concentrate on his magic, his hands keeping its grip tightly- the wind flying everywhere.
Then, without realizing it, twenty minutes had passed and with it, his ability to use Soar Magic- making him fall out of the sky.
âOh, DAMN IT!!!!!!â He cried out, falling from the sky and losing his broom in the process.
Gwen was happy they didnât take everything away from her. At least she had her spider sense...well her broken spider sense. It always went haywire on her and she could never explained why. It was so finicky that she rarely relied on it. So when the back of her skull started to tingle, Gwen knew something was up.
No literally! Something was up! Barely missing the blonde, the broom fell with a loud clack on the pavement.
âWhat that !@#$â Gwen looked up to see a body falling at alarming speeds. âoh !@#$!!!â her hands shot out instinctively, as if webs were to magically appear. @#$!, #$%^@, @$%@, they took my webshooters! Okay think fast Gwen, think ---â
There was nothing around so Gwen decided to hunker down and try and catch the other. She opened her arms wide and bent her knees slightly to lighten the impact.Â
Holiday Cheer
Itâs the holidays and Gwen isnât in the best mood. Sheâs not spending her time with her dad or friends. Instead she was stuck here, webless and powerless. She was moping. Hood up, eyes down, hands shoved in her pockets. She was cold and hungry and really wanted some hot cocoa. Why was it so hard to get some hot cocoa around here?
Gwen didnât mean to bump into the other. She wasnât paying attention at all. âSorry.â she muttered. She stopped and looked at the other, hoping that they werenât offended by her rudeness.Â

It was nice that Gwen actually got a better place to live in this time around, but she still didnât know the layout of the area. She would end up getting lost quite often and that just ended up causing her to be a grouch.Â
â âScuse me.â Gwen had to find an outlet for her frustration, and the easiest way for her to do that is by playing her drums. Now hereâs the problem, she doesnât have any drums to play on. So she decided to ask someone.Â
âDo you have any idea where there might be a music store?â

Frisk looked up at the lady who stopped in front of them in surprise. Most people seemed to being avoiding them. This was only natural, people avoided strange things, even if it was as strange as a kid who was clutching their side.
âOh, Iâm okay miss, really, I am. I know it must look like I hurt myself, but I actually only damaged my sweater.â They moved their hands away from the tear to reveal they were fine. They actually did have a mark under their undershirt, but they wouldnât tell her that. They could handle pain, pain was something that they knew.
They bounced on their feet uneasily. âUm, b-by any chance do you know a store around here that sells sweaters in my size? This is my only good sweater and itâs too cold to walk around without it, even if I do have an undershirt⌠I needed to get some anyway, butâŚâ
Gwenâs lips thinned out to skeptical look, This kid is lying. Itâs plastered all over their face. Growing up with a cop did have its perks. Gwen knows protocol, but more importantly, she could spot a liar....well most of the time. Gwen didnât know exactly what the child was lying about. Maybe they were fine and just felt uncomfortable, probably even a bit âbummedâ (one of Gwenâs fave words) that their sweater was ripped. That or Gwen just couldnât read the child well after all. Â
Gwen didnât pry or push the kid, she very well knew the feeling of being pressured to speak. She did feel the need to help the child out though. At least make sure they have a new sweater. âI do know of a small shop, kid. If you want, I can take you there. Iâll even get you the sweater myself.â
Gwen stood up and looked down at her attire, âGuess I could go do some shopping myself.â She grinned at the other, hoping to make them feel more comfortable.Â

âM-meep!â
Of course they would do this. Of all the sweaters they had to be wearing while they were out, it had to be their best one. And of course this one had to tear. At this time of year, it was really their only one that kept their warm. All of the others were too thin and their clothes didnât include a winter coat at the moment. This was why you had to be careful when getting off the bus, Frisk
They gripped at the side of their sweater, holding it closed. They wore a t-shirt under it, of course, but it was still extremely cold out here. And embarrassing⌠They flushed. Theyâd had to replace this, but they doubted they could today. Their hands were kind of occupied and they didnât think that they would really be able to find anything good.
âJust greatâŚâ
@radioactivegwen
She looks hurt?Oh man, did this kid get hurt?Â
Gwen noticed the small child holding her side. Obviously, this concerned her. It looked like she was alone too. Where the hell are their parents. It took a few moments of inner struggle to decide exactly what to do. Gwen wasnât the best with kids, and honestly, she would probably be the worst at helping but it seemed like no one else was going to stop.
âHey.â she crouched down to be eye level with the other. At least she knew how to try and not look menacing. The bad guys do enough of that. âAre you okay?â
Okay Gwen, you just took responsibility of this kid until whenever their parents show up, so donât !@#$ up.

Okay so maybe Gwen doesnât have her powers but when people are in need of help, that doesnât stop her from doing her best to help them. It was something her father instilled in her growing up. So when she saw a masked women fighting off a group of thugs, Gwen just had to join. She still knew how to fight, after all. After hastily donning her suit, Gwen caught up with the gang.
âHey bozos!â She came to the closest one and punched him square in the jaw. âDidnât your folks ever tell you that messing with girls is wrong?âÂ
âEspecially you, ugly! Iâm sure your parents taught you manners because looks are getting you nowhere.â Ouch, rude much, Gwen?Â
She didnât care. She was beating things up and all her frustrations were starting to slip away. Hopefully the other masked vigilante appreciates the help.
