If you don't live in the united states, signal boost this to anyone you know who lives in the united states. And then look if there's anything like KOSA in your country. If so, do whatever you can to stop it.

America is a bellwether nation. If it implements censorship, everyone will.

The deal mentioned is just to get the houses version of the bill on the house floor after which it still needs to go through senate. This version supposedly only affects adult sites (which still is bad but not as bad as every social being affected) the problem with it is that there's no duty of care and it's not Blackburn's version of the bill which will lead Blackburn and other Senate members to vote against it and Cruz is anti censorship so you know he's against it, and so on.

if the senate changes the bill to include duty of care, it has to be re-voted on within the house. the house passing this with the duty of care included is very unlikely, as they do not want duty of care. the senate passing the version without duty of care is also very unlikely, as major cosponsors and senators have called the house version, "dead on arrival" without it. this has been the fight forever. this will take time, it's not something that's just going to happen overnight.

This is the congressional calender for the year right now this KOSA bs has passed the house and gone to the senate.

We don't yet know how much they are going to push it in the senate and we wont know till July 13th when Senate comes back onto session.

What we do know is that there is a senate version of the Bill too and the Senate doesnt like the House version of the Bill. The House was more hessitant to move with the senate version of the bill and i believe Meta has stopped resisting the house version of the Bill after lobbying to stop any version of this bill for years.

But there is a bipartisan push for something like age restrictions and digital id for a while now so just because the senate and House arent happy with each others versions of the bill doesnt mean they wont find a version they both agree on.

Obviously we dont want it pass period but if it does we want it to take away as much of the more problematic aspects as possible

We want very specific language in what will be considered adult content so the vagueness doesnt leave too much room for interpretation open

What's KOSA? (the KIDS act) It's a bill requiring all American run websites to ask for age verification and digital ID under the false guise of protecting children from the internet. Age verification and restrictions do not protect children. It is a parent's job to monitor what they're children do not the government or data companies.

In reality this is about companies trying to profit from you, because of AI they aren't confident if the impressions and data are real anymore. They are lobbying lawmakers and going against American amendment rights (Specifically 1A and 4A) In other words, this is a complete violation of everyone's rights and privacy and will effect countries worldwide because of most sites being American run and potential for this act to spread globally.

They are trying to censor and control us.

This requirement for age verification and ID will lead to widespread mental health crisis, repression of information and potential databreaches.

They will hurt us and our families if we retaliate physically against this. But if we band together we can make change.

But what can you do even if you're from another country?

- Sign petitions against the bills and digital ID requirements

- Protest (Whether that may be online or physically organized ones)

- Call your senators and officials demanding they vote against this

- Spread the word of this bill

this is an all hands on deck situation right now. the house seems to have made a bipartisan agreement, and is set to be voted into law as soon as next week. again, there's no exact date, but it's an estimate on when it'll happen.

this will be voted by the house representatives. this is a floor vote. if passed, it'll go to senate.

for the next two weeks, call your house representatives. make them oppose this as soon as possible.
