Not only did Doctor Hill try to plagiarize his work, but also his dearly departed mentor's work, Dr. Gruber's. And his boyfriend, Dan, is the worst of them all. Dan betrayed him. He cared for Dan. He wouldn't have even so much as glanced at Dan if he didn't care so much for him.

I am very aware of how morally questionable Herbert is, but I recognize a betrayed, broken person who basically lost everything they had. There's a reason. There's always a reason.

Herbert, I knew you loved him. But from the beginning, I knew he was going to betray you. Great minds don't think alike. One great mind was a plagiarist and a creep who only wanted a profit. The other was a spineless coward and a traitor. You were just a curious child fascinated with death and trying to make it so that no one you cared about ever died again.

Even if it's morally questionable and even wrong in some instances, you weren't afraid to go past those limits. You tried so hard. And you succeeded. You conquered brain death. And I'm fucking proud of you, even if it meant poor Rufus had to suffer with a broken back.
