I do think all of my tieflings with horns that don’t shed have extended sinuses (so Poetry would not unfortunately, but Mycah most certainly would).

In fact, I think that’s why Mycah’s horns get so flushed like the rest of him, they’re probably really tender and sensitive when he gets sinus flareups. I cannot imagine it feels pleasant, it’s probably like a constant firm pressure above your brows whenever he’s dealing with it.

I don’t necessarily mean stifles when I say this, but stifles are kinda under the same umbrella.

What I mean is sneezes that sound further from an “achoo” sound and closer to a cough, growl, or otherwise sounds like a BUNCH of constants forced together. (Usually includes a “dtzzsch” sound).

These sneezes don’t have the time to be voiced, and are the most practical-sounding sneezes. This is a sneeze that sounds like it’s actually expelling whatever is tickling it. Thick and nasally sounding, often times a little wetter than usual, especially if consecutive.

Cough-like sneezes also need more love!! If the practical sneeze is effective and satisfying, the cough sneeze is the opposite. Weaker, doesn’t sound practical at all, and sometimes still leaves the nose yearning for another.

I've been doing more work on the full version of Sternutation Incantation and had to draw a really silly scene I wrote in it. These two dance around my head like loose marbles in a sock.

One must imagine the dog, pill, and peanut butter analogy, where the peanut butter is the digestible prompt and the pill is the fics and art and oc lore.

It’s mana-efficient. It requires so much more energy to silence, restrain, or incapacitate another person, and the same can be achieved by just making their nose itch like crazy.

It’s effective on pretty much anyone. Have you ever tried to swing a sword mid-sneeze?? It can’t be easy, at least, not in an effective manner. For spellcasters, verbal incantations go out the window of course, but somatic/gestural incantations are also jeopardized.

Any sort of chase/pursuit becomes trivial. It’s hard to keep up when running and sneezing at the same time, especially through an environment that requires a lot of dexterity and precision.

Stealth is a complete bust. If you happen to be the one in pursuit of someone, sending out an area of affect sneezing spell can identify a target in seconds.

Stubborn by default, hardly ever sneezes, and it takes a LOT of work to actually pry one out. Every sneeze comes with a statement from close friends.

“Wow, it’s really dusty in here if they’re sneezing…”

“Okay so I’m not crazy! This perfume’s overdoing it.”

“Poor thing, must not be a little cold after all if it’s making you sneeze.”

Inducing takes a while, but after a certain threshold, they become a ticklish mess that’s gasping for reprieve. It’s worth the effort!!
