Five-nine, broad shoulders built like something holy,

and a smile that hides whole storms

behind her beautiful brown eyes.

She speaks in silk.

Slow and careful, like she knows

words can ruin people….or save them.

And her voice….her voice slips beneath my skin

and settles there like a haunting.

I’m in love with this girl.

I know I keep repeating it,

but love like this does not stay quiet.

It claws at the ribs.

It begs to be named.

When she pulls me into her arms,

my heart forgets how to behave.

It races hard enough to break itself open,

like it would gladly spill into her hands

if she asked.

And maybe that’s the frightening part…

how easily I would give her everything.

The softest parts……The ruined parts.

The parts I keep hidden from the world

because they bite when touched.

But she touches them gently.

Like she knows monsters get lonely too.

There’s this girl I’m in love with,

and she speaks to every corner of me,

even the dark ones I swore

no one would ever reach.

I rest against her soft round chest

and the noise inside my head goes still.

Not gone….just quieter.

Like for one brief moment

the world finally decides

to let me live.
