due to our financial circumstances, we’ve been living with my abusive, narcissistic grandmother. i’ve been trying and failing to land a job since march after i got laid off due to covid, my savings are non-existent after years of financial abuse, and my bf is making very little after expenses, not even close to being enough to secure a new place for us to live.

this all started over something tiny and ridiculous, my bf asking my grandma not to wake me from my nap when dinner was ready. that’s it! i have chronic fatigue syndrome, he was just looking out for me. she lost her shit and began yelling at him, saying that he didn’t want me to eat food, started calling him names and implying he’s r*tarded bc he’s autistic. instead of losing his temper, he kept his cool and tried to remain friendly: she interpreted this as him being mentally unstable (because who could maintain a polite smile while getting screamed at, right?) and dragged me out of my room to tell me what “happened” and how he was being “vicious” to her. i told her to please stop doing this.

Bodies get sick sometimes. It’s not anything worse than suddenly catching the flu. It’s no one’s fault (people who knowingly and maliciously spread illnesses are luckily rare), it’s not a moral sign of anything.

Remember all of this when you talk about sexual safety and health. Yes, avoid getting sick if you can, but if you DO get sick, IT’S OKAY. You’ll be okay. You’re not “dirty”, “soiled”, “ruined” - none of that. Include THAT message.
