today my mom and i met a colobus monkey at the zoo who posed for pictures and then my mom held out her phone to show him the pictures of himself. he was looking at the phone screen for like a full minute i wish i could like understand what was going on in his head

Also is it me or are these people in the picture not dark skinned?

They are dark skinned, especially since most Asians we see have pale skin. They don’t have to be black as night to be considered dark skinned.

I’ve actually lived in China. it was very difficult for us to buy regular body lotion because almost everything had bleaching agents in them. We had to read all ingredients very carefully before we bought stuff or we would just come back with a full suitcase of lotion anytime we traveled to Nigeria.

I’ve studied and interned abroad in China… the way that black people get treated there is awful. People don’t culturally have the same understanding of what racism is the same way we do in other other places, but there’s still a lot of racism, colorism, and antiblackness there.
