A BITCH WITH A PERIODS GUIDE TO NOT KILLING YOURSELF ON YOUR PERIOD FOR TRANS FEMMES ON FEMMENIZING HRT
Hello! So periods absolutely suckkkk take it from me! Someone whose cycle makes it its personal mission to be more miserable every month. And dealing with the non blood related side effects of your period is 1. Absolutely horrible and 2. Fucking PAINFUL
And well, obviously, i am not on femenizing hrt [im tme] I figured I could go over how my hormonal cycle affects me and how I personally cope with it!
So let's begin, shall we!
1. What a bloodless period might be like
So i deal with a very light bloodflow and kinda unpredictable period, so I've had to get really good at figuring out when my period is here based on other symptoms alone. So here's some things to look out for!
If you find yourself dealing with
Increased depressive/suicidal thoughts over a week of time
Parts of your body being extremely sore [for example, my messed up knee will hurt more when im on my period]
Extremely bad stomach cramping [period cramps are not just the uterus cramping but all the muscles in that region working together to put you in immense annoying day ruining pain]
Fatigue [some might say this is due to blood loss, but you actually do not lose any important blood on your period! Again, i have one that has little to no bloodflow]
Increased dysphoria
Sudden decrease/increase of appetite
Overall just being more emotional/reactive [this one is hard to tell it kinda just comes down to keeping track of your behavior]
Sudden change in libido [mine personally goes up during my period]
There's a lot more symptoms that can and will show up [your period is basically your body giving you every negative status effect at once] so it really just comes down to listening to and tracking your body [I'd honestly suggest using a period tracker bc they go off of the time in between each cycle, even tho y'all don't got an obvious tell like blood you can honestly go off of these symptoms to help ya figure the timing out]
But what can you do to make your period more comfortable?
Imma separate this one into a mental group and a physical group [there will be some overlap between the two aswell]
Physical
Use a heating pad for the cramps! It may be a stereotype, but it's legitimately helpful [and if you find the heat makes em worse, try the cold instead! One of my friends is more comfortable on their period in the cold]
Baths! And if you can't bath then showers! Make it into a little spa day for yourself because you're a pretty fucking princess who deserves to pamper herself
I was told once that [decaf] green tea helps with cramps! Idk how true it is but hey might as well try lol
CAFFEINE MAKES CRAMPS WORSE DO NOT DRINK CAFFEINE
Eat stuff with protein in it! Your bodies gonna be exerting a lot of energy so you gotta keep that bitch well fed!
Lay on your back with your feet up against the wall, idk why this works so well to help cramps, but it's fucking magic or smth
Mastrabate! Im not joking, it helps the cramps, tires you physically, and helps you emotionally
Mental
While chocolate does make cramps worse, eating it does release happy chemicals that make things easier to cope with
Be kind to yourself mentally, if you catch yourself being more of a bitch to ppl don't beat ya'self up over it. You're allowed to be a bitch on your period
Pamper yourself! Eat your weird comfort foods, watch your favorite shows, snuggle up with your fav blankets and drinks, give yourself a mini spa day lighting candles and shit, your period is a miserable affair and you deserve to treat yourself like a princess for putting up with it
Never kill yourself on your period it's not worth it trust me
Cancel plans if you need to! Just bc you aren't bleeding doesn't mean your suffering is any lesser than mine, if ya gotta cancel then cancel
Also, hey! I know i made jokes about periods being miserable, but if you enjoy yours, that's completely valid! I'm obviously not trans femme, but ik it can be gender euphoric for y'all
Overall, I obviously don't know everything about coping with a period. But the bottom line is that ya gotta just be kind to yourself ig
AND PAMPER YOURSELF LIKE THE PRETTY FUCKING PRINCESS I KNOW YOU ARE
