yall are so fucking weird about gnc people. a woman wears a suit and she's "conforming to the patriarchy". a man wears a skirt and he's Secretly A Trans Egg. have you considered It's Fabric
You would not believe the things I have heard as a transfem butch.
I once said something along the lines of "why does everyone assume that every gnc cis man is an egg" and was harassed for it and sarcastically told that obviously the treatment of cis men should be our biggest concern and that I didn't know anything about egg culture (I do). You do realize that gnc people are queer too, right? You realize I can concern myself with "smaller" problems, because I love gnc people and am concerned about their well-being? You realize that telling people they must be trans because of their presentation is just as bad as telling someone must be cis for the same reasons?
I'm never going to shut up about how shitty the queer community treats gender non-conforming people, especially gender non-conforming men.
also the treatment of gnc cis men tells me a lot about how you'd treat gnc trans men. like, you think that if a man likes feminine clothing he's secretly a woman? do you know how many people have told me i'm not "actually trans" because i like feminine clothing? stop reinforcing gender norms i am Begging
I will always care more about the supportive cishet boyfriend at pride than i will about the wannabe cop queer person interrogating every “straight looking” couple to make sure they’re “queer enough” to be there btw. Don’t worry about your cishet boyfriend, he’s sitting with me eating an ice cream wearing a homemade little pride bracelet around his arm and he is the happiest he’s ever been in his life :]
I will genuinely never forget when I came out as nonbinary to my father. He quite literally looked at me and said, "Alright. And you'll always be a woman to me."
I shortly after told him I wanted to go by Ash, I was 14 or 15, he refused to call me that until I was 18 and my mom repeatedly refused to acknowledge what he'd say related to me unless he used my name. He got with the program way quicker then than the years I'd argue with him about it being disrespectful, no longer was it, "It's hard" or "It takes time".
Just because I started liking wearing skirts and dresses a bit after I came out doesn't mean you can call me a girl again when I've told you otherwise.
Or refer to me as Ashley instead of Ash even when you know that has not ever and will never be my name. (Literally my friend/informally adopted brother's who has known me since I was ten)
Or be my friend (now former) and blatantly look over at me as our Mythology teacher is talking about Cassandra in Greek mythology just cause its my deadname.

Chapter 24 of You're too sweet for me by Chupacudegoaininha on AO3
GRABS you by the THROAT. stop using "narcissistic", "slow", "depressed", "bipolar", "schizophrenic" and the literal R slur (i'm not saying it.) etc etc etc as insults. I don't care if you're neurodivergent and doing this you're still an ableist prick
"im not saying feminism is for everyone but-" the fuck? well im saying that. feminism is for everyone. yes even cishet men will benefit from feminism and cishet men should be feminists because cishet men are indeed harmed by the patriarchy; nowhere near to the extent that women are, but having a culture that is fully equal and anti-misogynist benefits everyone. have we forgotten that lifting up the disenfranchised people in society helps all of us as a collective? "im not saying that universal and unalienable human rights are for everyone but-" YES THE FUCK THEY ARE LOL

In our public library:
Best friend: "Circle!"
I was facing the opposite direction, "That is not what that says"
"It's says circle!"
Still facing the other direction, "I can tell you that is not what it says"
They take a 3rd or 4th look: "Oh"
It was in fact Circe on the book cover.

You can’t call yourself a leftist if you hate children tbh, like you can choose not to have them or be around them, but outright hating the most marginalised group of people in the world who have absolutely no power or control over the most basic parts of their lives and bodies is a dangerous mentality to have and you need to grow the fuck up and get out of your edgy phase and start treating everyone around you like human beings, even the ones that piss you off.
Like the older I get, the more empathy I have for children. Imagine living on this planet for less than a decade and having to figure out every single thing from scratch, only for the people around you to treat you like a living doll and constantly invalidate your feelings because you haven’t learned how to express them beyond screaming at the top of your lungs, like you’d be having meltdowns in the grocery store as well. The least you can do is offer them some grace, everything is so fucking confusing and scary and overwhelming and they’re not able to communicate that properly and no one around them is explaining shit, and they are constantly at the mercy of whether or not the terrifyingly giant adults around them CHOOSE to be kind like genuinely put yourself in the situation of a child and tell me you wouldn’t also be freaking the fuck out.
The way society treats children is borderline inhumane, and you have the audacity to call them hellspawn crotch-goblins for screaming a little bit too loud or daring to be in the same vicinity as you.
I do also believe that hating children is a sign of underlying ableism, because most of the justifications of hating children comes down to “they’re annoying” or “they don’t know how to act” or “they’re gross” and if you are unable to treat people who lack social skills, who make loud or repetitive noises, who are incontinent etc. with basic respect and dignity, then what’s the difference between hating children and hating disabled adults that share the traits you find so irritating?
"going out to get milk" is a common turn of phrase used to describe a man abandoning his family.
the "milkman" is a common figure in stories depicting a woman's infidelity and adulterous affair.
this implies that the ability to provide milk would both decrease the likelihood of a man abandoning his wife and children, as it would eliminate the need for leaving to get milk AND would secure that man's marriage, as his wife would have no need to seek milk from an extraneous source.
therefore, all men should produce milk, through various means such as:
- being a cow
- being an almond
- being a woman
- being a coconut
- being in the omegaverse
- being an oat
(list is exemplary and not finite)
in this essay, i will redefine the nuclear family and explain the seductive and inflammatory nature of the 1993 "Got Milk?" commercials.
It is true that if you want to be a girl, you can be one; and if you don't want to be one, you can decide not to be one. And the same is true of boys. But I want to posit something else: that you don't need to buy a whole package deal. You can pick and choose the traits and words you like.
I conceptualise gender and masculinity/femininity not as boxes that one needs to conform to, or labels that one has to choose to adopt or reject, but as toyboxes full of trinkets. I can take whatever trinkets I like. I don't have to take the ones I hate. If I hate all of the toys in a box, I can just close the box. If I like only some of them but hate others, I don't have to bring the whole box with me. I can put them back in the box if I don't want them one day, and I can take them back out if I want them again later. I can play with the toys and paint the toys and mash the toys together and experiment with the toys and break the toys and cherish the toys at my leisure. And I can buy them from elsewhere, or even make my own, if I want more toys but can't find them in the toyboxes provided.
You are under no obligation to follow the rules of gender. You are under no obligation to pick an entire set of traits and stick with it forever. You are under no obligation to avoid things that sound contradictory to others who don't understand what you're doing. You can be a girl who uses he/him pronouns and takes T. You can be a boy all the time except on Tuesday at 5pm when you become a girl for a little while. You can wear a dress with your waistcoat and a big pink bow with your big curly mustache and give yourself it/its pronouns and be a lesbian and a gay man at the same time. You can decide you hate all of this shit and throw it all out the window, and you can be any of these things sometimes and something else later. The list goes on. There is absolutely nothing stopping you. There are no rules. You can be a gender scavenger. Try it out and see how you feel.

Dental care is healthcare
Eye care is health care
Healthcare may cover specific things in those specialties but its not enough. And its a bitch to get done.
We know from research that "bad teeth", gum diseases and others increase cardiovascular risk.
Routine eye and dental care should be covered, it's preventative care.
Its embarrassing, my teeth are bad, really bad, and all I get told is "you need to see a dentist" but i can't. I can barely afford the little food i can eat, let alone a fucking dentist. And the local anesthesia? Does nothing for my dental stuff, I feel it all.
And eye care, my mom's eyes change a lot, she's supposed to really get a new prescription every 6 months. But she can't afford that, she can only do once a year at most, but not always. And the lack of right prescription is painful and makes it hard to see. Despite my own eye issues I often have to read signs for her because even with glasses she struggles to.
My teeth could be making my chronic illnesses worse, but I won't know until I can get them fixed, a fix that requires pulling many of them The pain is excruciating, but theres basicallynothing i can do about it. I could get an infection and go septic quickly at any point, it's a matter of time till this tries to kill me because I'm immunocompromised. It's inevitable. A countdown I have to live with constantly.
All because I'm too poor to afford dental care.
All because dental care is not considered healthcare.
