I think people need to be more comfortable with illegalism and Iβm not kidding. Of course the more legal something is, the safer and easier it is to do, but the more people who disregard the law, the harder it is to enforce. There are plenty of laws on the books that people just ignore and are never or rarely policed.
Becoming more comfortable with little illegal activities makes you more comfortable with bigger more important illegal activities. Additionally, it is crucial to build a wall of silence. Nobody talks everybody walks.
People who give out food without a permit, hold a march without a permit, grow a garden without a permit, are more likely to be people you could turn to to work with on preventing an eviction, or keeping people out of cop hands, or helping your friend Jane get crucial healthcare when itβs not legal in your state.
Communities comfortable with these acts wonβt call the cops, and then nobody knows that itβs happening.
People have got to shift from both the idea that lawful = good/ illegal = bad, and that the illegality of something means thatβs the end of it, and the only fight left is to make it legal again.

Not to be all βexistence is sufferingβ and all but
Iβm so frustrated with how normalized and accepted it is to make fun of speech impediments. Imagine being that unfunny that you have to make a joke at someone elseβs expense
And the amount of people who think that going to speech therapy magically βfixesβ it π. I went to speech therapy for years and all it did was make me hate myself even more lol
Ableism that is widely accepted is still ableism! Little fun fact
Ok I genuinely was not expecting this post to get any notes but now that it has I wanna clarify a few things. Mostly my point about speech therapy.
This is not me saying that speech therapy doesnβt work because it absolutely can and does help people cope with their impediments. It still doesnβt fix anyone though. When you go to therapy for your depression or anxiety, are you magically fixed? Most of the time when I see people claiming that speech therapy βcuresβ impediments, theyβre doing that to absolve themselves of the guilt of making fun of us. Because if therapy fixes impediments then itβs the personβs own laziness or unwillingness to go to therapy that causes their impediment and, therefore, theyβve brought it upon themselves and making fun of them is fair game. Itβs a way to invalidate speech impediments as a disability. So yes, speech therapy can help impediments. No, itβs not a cure.
the self hatred comment. When I was going to speech therapy, it was very much focused on the person with the impediment βfixingβ themself and talking correctly. There was little to no emphasis on self acceptance and loving myself and my stutter. The emphasis on something being wrong with me, combined with the culture we live in where stutters and other impediments are readily made fun of, lead to lots of self hatred that Iβm still working through over a decade later. Itβs hard to get over that self hatred when society still finds it socially acceptable to make fun of me and people like me. I mention this because my experience is by no means mine alone. Thereβs entire generations of us traumatized by therapy like this who are working on how we see ourselves and our disability.
Reblogging for disability pride and awareness month. Speech impediment are rarely included in disability conversations and Iβm going to change that <3

True.
Some of yall be like "you don't know what it's like to have societal pressures to be pretty π₯Ί everyone is so mean to you and you live only for the consumption of others" and then turn around and blast some poor fucking guy who's just existing bc his beard his patchy and he has acne and is overweight.
We get it. Your body positivity is conditional and only feminine. Butch women, amab enbies who lean towards masculinity and us ugly men (cis and trans) have always known.
Also holy fuck this affected disabled people so fucking much, and SO MANY intersex people.
This post is for ugly, fat (FAT!!!!! FAT FAT FAT, NOT MAGAZINE PLUSSSS FAT), disabled, intersex, trans people and people of color who are tired of the body positivity movement being a fucking farce. Fuck the rest of you.
I cant reiterate just how much this is especially for disabled and intersex people.
Just what's the deal with the malaise! LOL!
Clap if you feel deep profound discomfort
Why do I feel irredeemable when Iβm not doing anything wrong
Anyway I wish my body would be less confusing. All the bullshit would be far easier to deal with if I at least knew what and why it is.
