Hello lovely Tumblr folk! It’s that time again- I have a giveaway for you all. I thought I'd have a little end-of-summer celebration 💜

We have both an online store and a physical location that could use your support!

My business is a small, family run establishment that I started here on tumblr in 2013. I’ve been lucky enough to grow to the point where my husband and I opened a brick and mortar store and I’ve been able to employ my mother and several of my siblings! I’ve been supporting my mom and younger siblings since 2016 💜 I’ve always put compassion and ethics above all else in my business!

This giveaway will have two winners.

What the first winner receives:

The large assortment of crystals & the altar cloth pictured above! There are 21 crystals in total. The full retail value is about $480

A $100 gift card that can be used for our online store or tumblr sales!

What the second winner receives:

A $50 gift card that can be used for our online store or tumblr sales!

Rules:

You must be 16 or older. (If under 18 you MUST have parent’s permission)

You don’t have to live in the US to join!

Shipping is entirely free, I will cover it. But if you live outside the US and for whatever reasons your country wants to charge you import tax, you are responsible for it. If it gets sent back to me, you will need to pay shipping to have it sent again.

Hekate, Goddess of Magic, Witchcraft, the Moon, Necromancy, is believed to be not just a Goddess of the Underworld, but the living world as well. She also has dominion over crossroads, hidden knowledge, home protection, herbs, plant medicine and flowers. According to the Ancient Greek text by Hesiod, Theogony “Hecate, whom Zeus, Cronus’ son, honored above all others: he gave her splendid gifts - to have a share of the Earth and the barren sea, and from the starry sky as well she has a share in honor, and is honored most of all by the immortal gods.”

From what we can see historically, Hekate was a Goddess that was highly revered and given reign over three realms by the God of Gods. Hekate is well known to be as the triple goddess due to her association with the waxing, full and waning moon, but also some equate Hekate to the Mother, Maiden and Crone figure. She is a powerful Goddess, yet she also is a kind Goddess that will aid you in your path that you have chosen as a witch. Some of the main things you can focus on when working with Hekate when just starting off is

There are superstitions that when Hekate is near dogs will begin to bark for what seems to be no reason.

Once you begin to see signs that Hekate is responding to you and is willing to engage, a great thing to do would be to leave an offering at a crossroads during the New Moon. Rituals, offerings and spellwork during the New Moon is the perfect time to connect with Hekate since that is the phase of the moon associated with her. Some examples of offerings you can leave at the crossroads are,

Cakes

Mediterranean fruits

Locally sourced fruits

Keys

Bones

Plants, such as Mugwort

Blood

You can also honor Hekate on the last day of the month or on the Night of Hekate, which is November 16th every year.

Lastly, an important step to making that initial connection with Hekate is creating an altar dedicated to her. On your altar you can have a statue of her or something that symbolizes her, plants associated with her and even  images of animals associated with her. Some colors you can use to decorate your altar are,

Finding your path in your witchcraft journey isn’t always the easiest one. It’s so overwhelming at first, sifting through mountains of information that can take you infinite directions. Here, I have a rough outline of how I found my path and maybe it can help you find yours?

Research, Research, Research!

I know you probably have heard this a million times already, but we say it because it’s true! Researching topics in witchcraft is the only way to truly get started and headed on your way to finding your path as a witch.

Narrow it down by looking up popular topics in witchcraft online. It gives you a solid starting point to jump off of.

Delve deeper into your studies

Find physical books that you can annotate on the topics you decided to focus on. Having a physical copy is easier to flip through and easier to learn from in my opinion. Everyone is different though!

What type of witch are you?

After discovering a plethora of information you may now have an idea on what type of witch you want to be! This could range anywhere from Green Witch to Cosmic Witch to Hedge Witch. You are the creator of your own destiny.

Remember! It’s always okay to switch paths! If you feel like you’ve lost passion or interest in a certain path you chose, just start from the beginning again and let your heart lead you to the path you belong to.

Honing your craft

Once you’ve found out if you want to have deities, want to focus on herbs, crystals or moon magic for example, you’re finally ready to make a compilation of your studies.

I highly recommend obtaining a Book of Shadows or Grimoire for personal record keeping of your studies. You can find professionally made BoS and grimoires on Etsy the easiest, but if you want to use regular notepads as well go for it!

I personally have three separate BoS, one for general information & spells, one for correspondences and rituals and one for my deities. I’m pretty extra and I think it’s unusual to have that many BoS, but you do whatever you’re comfortable with. That’s what matters.

Finding your path

Ultimately after you’ve completed these steps you should have an idea of whether you have deities you worship or if you want to opt out of that and what type of witch you are.

Remember! Witchcraft is a craft and your personal craft can be anything you would like it to be! Finding your path just makes it easier to find what you truly want to study and dedicate yourself to.

Grey witch

Grey witches like all other witches can be Wiccan or they may follow along another path of Paganism.

A Grey Witch is someone who practices both black and white magic, neither favoring one or the other. A Grey witch is neutral in her beliefs and practices and lives in the shades of gray.

Most witches, no matter whether they practice white or black believe in good and evil, male and female. Most witches will be drawn to one or the other of these practices.

White witches: mostly beneficial magic, never harmful, always for the greater good

Black witches: hexes, curses, banishments, love spells.

Great witches: beliefs of both white and black witches. They balance between light and dark and positive and negative.

The Grey witch still believes that “a witch who can not harm can not heal.” Believing that you need to know and understand both the white and black witch theories. This can be a very controversial thing in the Wiccan and Witchcraft communities.

Grey witches still believe in giving blessing and cleansing rituals.

This is where things get tricky. Some people believe there is not such thing as Grey magic and that only one or the other can be.

Grey witchcraft is a mindset. Great witches know and understand that dark magic can come at a price as can white magic. They have most likely invoked a deity of the infernal kind. A grey witch doesn’t look down upon those who follow black or witch magic as they believe you need both. A Grey witch respects both sides and walks a line between the two.

A grey witch may believe “harm to none, nor to me; as I will it, so mote it be.”

How does one know if they are a grey, white or black white?

It truly depends on the practitioner. Some people can not under any circumstances perform black magic. Grey magic is neutral and considered a balance of both light and dark in all things including magic.
