Because she’s doing it out of admiration for Lebanne. And I’m 99% sure now she is the only other woman besides Lebanne to use dragon types.

She even admits it herself that she is an odd one out and put herself at a disadvantage by breaking the SBC mold OR as she should say: the mold for women in the SBC

Male trainers in the SBC all use dragon types, they’re in a fairy female dominated space. It’s not a hard argument to say their dragon lean is fueled by gender norms. Look at how much of the male player base reacted to fairy types even being introduced over a decade ago.

I do not believe this girl who acknowledges she is different amongst her peers and exists almost exclusively to give a third person view Lebanne and Jacinthe from a SBC member discredits the idea of type speciality assisting in the trans coding of Lebanne’s character, a character this npc is an accessory to as she servers no other purpose than to talk about Lebanne.

...But there was the little issue of her situation. She'd been able to refuse to cave to his demands so far, but there was always that implied threat that he could send her back to jail on a whim. That he could always find something to see to it she be locked away. And if she released her research, if she gave that to Jacinthe, to anyone, and it got out... That would be more than enough grounds to get rid of her.

And if Jacinthe wasn't aware of her situation, she sure as hell wasn't going to tell her about it.

Maybe it was partly a fear that she would use it against her, the same way the mayor was. Make her life even more of a living hell than it already was. Maybe there was still a shred of pride in her, wanting to simply retain the image that she was capable and excelled in her position here. Maybe she just wanted to move on, desperate to prove that she wasn't the person everyone thought she was just because of her past, that they didn't know the whole truth.

"...I'm afraid that research is top secret," she confesses. "I am unable to release my research to anyone but the mayor himself."

Which wasn't a lie.

Jacinthe could pay her father a visit and discuss this ordeal, though that would end up being a bit of a headache. It just so happened he was in the mayors circle and rather fond of the mayors ideas, too. That could very well lead to a dead end.

What a pity. Jacinthe has all but lost interest in the conversation for now. She had work to do. Lebanne had work to do.

"This city's just full of stubborn people, isn't it?"

The mayor, Jacinthe, even Mable could be pretty stubborn when she wanted to be... Really, just about everyone Mable had dealt with or heard about in this city were incredibly stubborn in their own ways.

"Yes, well, he tends to ignore any proof that doesn't align with what he wants to hear," Mable rolls her eyes, doing her best to keep from going off on one of her rants in front of the other woman. "Trust me on that. There's a reason his reassurances about the whole thing are incredibly vague and have no actual details with them."

She supposed there was no hiding it. And if she was making a mistake in trusting Jacinthe with this information, so be it. At least someone else would know the truth. And for as skeptical of her as Mable was, well, she wouldn't be the first person that Mable had taken a wild chance on trusting.

"All that man cares about is money," she practically spits the word out, her distaste at him (and pretty much anyone that could be considered rich, she hoped Jacinthe didn't take that too personally) obvious. "All he sees are tourists and their wallets coming in to see the Wild Zones. Despite my research showing that they're nothing but a detriment to everyone here - the people, the Pokemon, nobody is benefiting from this but him. But naturally, that's swept under the rug. He ignores it all, and, ahem, encourages me to falsify my research to support his delusions. Which I refuse."

She had standards, after all. She took great pride in her research being as accurate as it possibly could be. Even her work with Team Flare, she had been incredibly proud of... Up until it had been used for the things it had been.

It was true. The political corruption in Lumiose did run deep. Not even Jacinthe could completely control the politicians that only cared for monetary gain and very little for the city itself. That infuriated her to no end, though all she could do was do her part with the SBC.

" Alors, I would be very interested to see this research of yours. As you said, the mayor provides no information to back up his claims-, " She redirected her attention back to Mable, " It's rather vexing from the perspective of someone so invested in Lumiose's future. "

Both she and Mable were both in very wildly different positions. With different views on the way things in Lumiose should be handled. Of course, Jacinthe took no offense to Mable's position on the matter, it most certainly made perfect sense to her.

Dismissing the remark to explain her interest, as that would certainly lead to admitting more about her past than she'd like to, she simply focuses instead on her other question.

"Whatever my opinion is on the matter makes little difference," she states flatly. "I'm not paid to have opinions on it. I'm simply here to research them and report the data back to the mayor."

She honestly didn't know if she could trust Jacinthe. It wouldn't be a stretch to guess that Mable didn't like the Wild Zones with that answer, but outright admitting it? Telling her that she hated them, wanted them destroyed (or at least implemented in a much different way), wanted the city to go back to the way it used to be? That the mayor ignored every single bit of research she had to prove they did more harm than good, for everyone, and pressured her to redo her work to reflect what he wanted to hear (which she refused to do)?

That was a dangerous thing to admit to someone she didn't know well.

That aside, she also happened to value the word of the professionals. Hands folded neatly upon her lap as Jacinthe listened on. She picked up thinly veiled disdain towards the situation in Lumiose, though- to be absolutely certain- she pressed further.

" Well! You know how the Mayor is- very difficult to sway when it comes to what he wants. He's the stubborn sort, almost to an aggravating degree! " A sigh was exhaled, her attention turning to the side- away from Mable." Of course, with my wonderful far reach in high society, it was easy to sway him during a crisis. "

She knew very little about Jacinthe, and it all amounted to rumors and secondhand accounts. And she didn't like to fully believe those kinds of things, knowing it never painted a full picture regardless of who it was, but she certainly couldn't write them off entirely either.

"With all due respect, Miss Jacinthe, I'm simply not a social person, nor have I ever been," she explains with a sigh. She does at least turn away from her computer to address her directly, as she felt that would be the more polite thing to do.

"I prefer to focus on my work and keep to myself, and I much prefer the company of my Pokemon to other people. I've never been one for things like going out or socializing," she shrugs. "It's just not my thing. Never has been."

" My, my! That's perfectly fine dear. We'll just have to bring the meal to you." It most certainly sounded as if she had disregarded nearly everything Mable had said. " Worry not, I'll be sure to keep the number of servants to a minimum. "
