CHAOS OVER ORDER

          “ Well… maybe not the very beginning. ”

Oh man. What did he just get himself signed on for… The virus may or may not have been the best resource to rely on for this kind of thing, but she was the closest link to Megabyte. As much as Bob would have liked to learn about how his friends have been managing since his disappearance… and if Dot was okay… No… No, he couldn’t worry about that. Not right now. Besides, they have all managed to get by before without him. This couldn’t have been much different…right?

The guardian falls silent for a moment. He doesn’t even seem to be processing anything that Hex was saying, only nodding his head slightly as his mind begins to wander. How long had he been gone for anyway… Would she even be able to recognize him now?

          “ Wait… what?                  What did Megabyte do? ”

At first, he’s almost to afraid to ask. Judging by the way things looked around here, Bob could tell… he just knew. The VIRUS didn’t do all of this on his own. He had help. All this damage and destruction… it wasn’t exactly Megabyte’s style. He was always after power and control, but this was…. CHAOTIC.

          “ Hex… ” There’s a pause and Bob glances back up at her. She wouldn’t really work WITH him, no…. same viral strain or not. The two absolutely DESPISED each other. So… why did he have such a bad feeling about this…            “ Please… tell me you didn’t help him do this… ”

     “Help him? I was trying to D E S T R O Y him!”

    She practically snarls, claws unfurling. Wait. Wait. Calm down. Arms cross tightly over her chest once again, finger tapping her upper arm in a restrained frustrated motion.

     “Not only did he leave me to be crushed by a game cube but he dared to think he could use me as a weapon at his disposal afterwards!”

    She rubs at her neck, a small phantom pain emerging from the back of the clutter in her mind. Oh but Megabyte had surely gotten his well deserved repercussions. Hopefully torn apart by some web creature’s thrashing maw. Writhing and in pain. What a lovely show that could have been to watch.

     But looking around her she can see why Bob had brought up such a concept. The scars of nulls dragged through the ground made her responsibility rather apparent. In truth, the destruction of Mainframe hadn’t been her real intention. Hex recalled feeling nothing but unbridled anger at the time. Blinding. Frantic.

     “At the time I hadn’t considered anything but getting rid of that loathsome Megabyte...”

    Was that remorse? Regret? A rather unfamiliar feeling was building up in her chest. After all the system was under structural threat and while that was in a great part Megabyte’s doing, there was some part of her, the more reasonable part, that could acknowledge she certainly hadn’t helped. Her hand draws up to touch her face, pausing for a moment in silence.  Ever since Bob had come back...

     “...I’ve made quite a mess, haven’t I?”
