Basically in this fantasy kingdom there’s this super awesome general, won countless battles and lead the kingdom through many wars thanks to his incredible strength and military genius. Then he dies of something stupid or anticlimactic like a sickness or something.

He is then reincarnated as a modern kid, having to go through mandated education. You’d think such a brilliant general would excel as a prodigy in school, but he actually sucks at everything. Like yeah, he did a lot of reading, but it was on the art of war and military tactics. Why would he have ever needed to read or understand literature? That was for scholars. He could do basic calculations, but pretty much anything after multiplication and division he’s hopeless at. He takes some interest in history lessons, if only to learn more about this strange world and how wars were fought and won. Science freaks him out and he can’t grasp any of it. What do you mean plants eat sunlight but not really? What do mean people have been on the MOON? How?!

Until he starts PE classes, and suddenly he’s a young soldier again, training his body to endure the harshness of the battlefield and wield a sword, spear, or bow. He takes to it with ease and familiarity, having to be told by the teachers a few times not to admonish the other students for complaining about the exercises or laps or for falling behind him. He doesn’t mind, he finds it troublesome that he can’t be as strong as he once was in such a small body, but he can build up his skills again.

It’s when the games come in that the other students look at him either with envy or respect. All the students know that if you’re on his team for capture the flag, dodgeball, or heck, even Red Rover, your team is sure to win and it will all be thanks to him. Somehow he’s able to command these kids in a way that doesn’t make them feel bossed around, but inspired to take the other team down!
