Made this a few days ago and procrastinated posting it, but here's an au I've been rotating in my head since... Ok well I've been joking about it since chapter 3 first came out but like maybe half a year ago I actually started fleshing it out in my head. Here's Tenna as a system!
TBH the main difference between this and canon is... He got returned once before the Holidays bought him for the Dreemurrs, so he's got slightly more baggage from earlier on that caused the split. I like to think he'd stay undiagnosed for a very, very long time- no one knows what a DSM is LOL. Which is exactly why Mike is so mysterious- he's literally just his caretaker alter and co-host. Both Tenna and Spamton think he's a powerful being that just possesses Tenna. Which is really funny to me. He went mostly dormant after Spamton left and when he peeked around again and saw his identity being stolen he just let it happen to see where it'd go. I have a little oneshot I wrote for this that I'm thinking I might actually post :)

NONE of them have good communication except Mike LMFAO. And Mike... Isn't around as often anymore! Post-cleaving he tries to be, but sometimes shits just exhausting. Mike is known to leave post-its and papers around to communicate and schedule things, but it's a little tough if he doesn't front often enough.
Blurriness is a daily experience. Tenna tends to most often feel blurry with Devil, Tennaville, or maybe Goldie- granted... He and Goldie tend to keep memories away from each other on accident. There's a bit of a barrier between them. If Cupid cofronts with Tenna or Devil there is a lot of headspace arguing! And if Tennaville and Goldie are cofronting, it's a complete nightmare LMAO
Toggy's name is a joke about Togore lmao. I think he'd come up with it and everyone would think that name sucks so they just call him Toggy.
Speaking of Toggy, he's a weird one! He doesn't show up tooooo often, but it's not infrequent, either. It's usually after a big meltdown, too- kinda like how regression can work as a safety precaution. He just shows up when the body is seeking safety and stability. He's one of the few alters that people could pick up existed but didn't fully get- everyone assumed Tenna was just... Well. Insane? Having another moment? Y'know how it is when you're not educated on mental health LMFAO. I think in Big Shot era Spamton saw Toggy like once or twice- it was very jarring to him but he kinda... Handled it. The Mikes, however, saw Toggy a LOT and for years just had a setup ready for if a Toggy moment happened. Toys, a soft blanket, crayons, ect.
Cupid is a super early on alter that went dormant! He's a bit of an anomaly because of that- when they turn off his child safety locks in chapter 3, Cupid started waking up a bit. However, MOST of the people who know Tenna were not around for the first five years of his life- I can see The Weather possibly having a little bit of key insight saying "well back in the day sometimes Tenna would do a risque photoshoot and regret it when he woke up in the morning..." Which I think would help explain why his memories of anything past Asriel being born are blurry.
Tennaville I think is another alter that people notice when he fronts, but don't understand thats whats happening, Tenna included! Tenna figures that he just kinda goes into a character when its time for maintenance because it freaks him out if he doesn't. Tennaville is the only one who doesn't flinch over maintenance and also acknowledges his age and various disabilities. Getting him to front when he needs to is a different story, unfortunately... Sometimes other alters are stronger at yanking the wheel because they don't like the doctor LMFAO
Tenna and Devil surprisingly get confused for one another very often, even amongst the two of them. Devil for a really long time was more of a fragment or a piece of Tenna that was very loud- but when Hellboard happened, he completely split off and got way more vocal and way more paranoid. I like to think Tenna was only a social smoker in bigshot era and very rarely had a cigarette or cigar afterwards to destress, so he never fully got addicted to smoking somehow. However, Devil kinda has that whole persecutor thing of psychosomatic cravings and also he's just a really stressed alter in general so smoking calms him. He's also got Toriels weird religious OCD and is a big holder of the symptoms so he assumes hes going to hell for everything LOL
I like to think og Tennaville and Goldie as different ends of a spectrum. Tennaville sees themselves as junk, and Goldie sees themselves as a perfect treasure. Goldie is good at asking for affection or being confident and getting things he(and others) want, but he's got an ego and is stubborn in many things. I'd say a lot of Tenna's "that wasnt my fault. i didnt do anything wrong." traits are from him. Weird coping mechanisms that make sense but can start being harmful. He really is a nice guy! He's just also kind of a jackass <3 the self love has to go somewhere and he took all of it. Maybe Cupid has a little of it.
That cleaving fragment is... Weird. Like I wrote in the notes for him, he shows up too much to exclude and holds the most "that was ME" feelings of the cleaving. Devil, Tennaville, and Tenna also cold a lot of that, but this guy shows up as another safety precaution, kind of like the opposite yet the same as Toggy. He hides and if hiding doesn't work he just goes limp and accepts it.
Spamton was the first person to ever really see through to Mike while he was fronting instead of wandering away assuming Tenna's in a bad mood. Mike likes him because of this, and when Spamton left, it felt like, for the first time in his existence, he lost something that was really his. Up until he showed up, it was just him and Tenna as far as he knew, so losing someone he actually felt like he was friends with hurt quite bad.
Tenna has the magic of partial shapeshifting and poofing into different outfits, but there's not a guarantee that'll happen, so you can't ALWAYS use physical looks as a perfect pointer on whos fronting, unless it's Toggy who ALWAYS shrinks. Sometimes Tennaville is in his little outfit, and sometimes he isn't! I think Mike struggles the most to mask- esp because for awhile he ALSO believes he's some weird being possessing Tenna's body. Tenna is very often fidgety and super expressive, and Mike is the opposite. Mike will be perfectly happy and still have a very neutral expression, and usually stays very quiet while working on things like paperwork.
I like to think, in my own weird little post-plot of toys world where I don't flesh it out as much as I do with Dark Fountain Within via justifying stuff or making it make sense... He trusts Mettaton and Spamton the most with alter issues. They're both the best at keeping track of/guessing who's fronting, though Ramb is pretty good at that as well- which I think is good because I'm projecting the trait of "please dont ask whos fronting i dont really know" onto them. Spamton knows him pretty well and knows what might help best based on certain situations a good 80% of the time, and Mettaton is both patient and encouraging, especially when it comes to improvement and finding ways to make things easier on him :)
