Quatorzine's space

Over the holiday I was painting my nails and Minky asked to have his painted as well. He picked out a bright sparkly nail polish (he’s been really into sparkly stuff in general lately) and was really happy with it. I asked him after getting them ready if he would want me to take them off before he went back to school today and he said no, which he reaffirmed last night before bed.

When I picked him up from school today he was in a great mood talking about the day but quickly noted that some of the kids in his class (mostly the boys) told him that nail polish was “for girls” and made some other not so nice comments about it. Luckily it sounded like his two close friends (both girls) thought the nail polish was cool, and his teachers were supportive and dealt with the kids who were commenting negatively. We talked a little more about it and he seemed pretty cool with the whole thing and unconcerned about the negative comments. I asked him if he felt like keeping the nail polish on for tomorrow and he said he wanted to and that hopefully the kids have learned that “if they don’t have anything nice to say they shouldn’t say anything at all.” Which, awesome.
