Gorom refugee camp , home to hundreds of refugees, primarily from Ugandan, is facing an escalating crisis as food and water shortages put thousands of refugees at risk.

The World Food Programme (WFP) recently announced further reductions in food rations due to funding shortfalls, cutting assistance to 40% of the minimum food basket.

Gorom has long served as a haven for those fleeing conflict and instability. However, the worsening situation has left many families struggling to survive, with reports of some going without food for days. Access to clean water has also become scarce, heightening health risks.

Camp leaders are urging immediate international intervention, while humanitarian organizations appeal for more funding. Without urgent action, the crisis could lead to severe malnutrition and suffering among the most vulnerable.

We are reaching out with heavy hearts on behalf of a group of LGBTQIA+ individuals who are currently facing a dire and life-threatening situation. Due to increasing pressure and hostility from government forces, our community has been forced to vacate the camp where we hadbeen seeking safety and refuge. This displacement has not only left us without shelter, but it has also pushed us toward urban areas where the cost of living—rent, food, and transportation—is entirely unaffordable.Most of us have no financial resources or stable income, as systemic discrimination continues to block access to employment and essential services. We are now at a critical crossroads, sleeping in unsafe conditions, going without meals, and unsure of how we will make it throughthe coming days.

We are not asking for luxury—only for the basics of survival and the chance to live with dignity. Any form of assistance—whether through direct donations, shelter connections, food provisions, advocacy, or helping amplify our voices—could make a life-saving difference.
