the people in the tags trying to pin this on hshq or jeff…. stop. you know WHY you’re doing it and deflecting is the exact reason why this shit happens over and over again. harry styles is a grown ass man fully capable of making his own decisions, deciding what he wants linked to his name, and is fully aware of what would happen with these t shirt sales, especially regarding what proportion would be donated, when it was expected for workers to make the shirts, and now– apparently– the fact that a digital album was linked to the sale.
to avoid mincing words, HARRY and his team are using this shit as an opportunity to boost album sales. the t-shirts are half assed, “this t-shirt fights covid” is BEYOND poor taste, the ad very conspiciously says 100% of profit goes to the WHO, and it’s hilariously slapped with the tpwk brand. even before this digital download shit, this t shirt campaign was a fucking mess and a half. but now, knowing that they’re capitalizing off of a pandemic that’s killed 200,000 people to inflate album sales (never fucking mind the fact that they’re tracking people’s searches and user data to alter ticket prices and sales), the fact that there are STILL people willing to push the blame elsewhere absolutely fucking sends me. either harry is entirely capable of being an adult and making his own decisions, or he isn’t. you can’t have it both ways, especially when one is a completely bullshit excuse.
this is not a jeff azoff/hshq issue. this is a harry styles issue, and you guys know it. this man has created a brand and he is entirely willing to squeeze every last fucking PENNY out of it that he can, and that’s totally fine if you buy into it, but don’t put his ass on a pedestal when it’s clear that he’s just like every other rich white dude doing anything he can to make a profit under the guise of sincerity.
