â90s Teenagers in Their Bedrooms, Adrienne SalingerÂ
In 1995, artist Adrienne Salinger wanted to depict the authentic lives of young people in â90s America â a contrast to the perfect Beverly Hills 90210 types portrayed in the media. She photographed teens in the most intimate space of all: their bedrooms.

Thatâs 20950 more people than Hillary Clinton rallies!
0 media coverage.
I was there, like 10,000 people couldnât even get in. How can people say that he doesnât have a chance?
Clinton was touted by the media as the inevitable democratic nominee even when she and Sanders had the same number of won states and delegates. I found this to be ridiculous and believe this type pro-Hillary reporting was because the corporations who own the media (Comcast, etc) support Hillary. When the masses repeatedly hear from the major media that Sanders chances of winning are over, they start believing it and get discouraged.

This is me in my graduation as an Industrial Engineer. I wish I could come here and write that Iâve worked hard all my life to get to this point but I didnât. In high school I barely even did my homework. I didnât even want to go to college. But my best friend made my ass apply to the university of Illinois and I did and I got in. I was like âfuck it let me go to college, I guess itâs better than working full timeâ. And I started off in remedial math. See being from the south side of Chicago, the education system doesnât have much faith in you. I remember going to school and literally sitting there playing UNO bc teachers didnât care. I remember counsellors telling me to go to community college or a trade schoolâŚ.So fast forward to college. Like I said I started of in remedial math, then went of to pre calculus, then to calculus 1,2,3, then to linear algebra, then to stats, then to differential equations. I went through all those maths to get where I am now. Iâm not going to lie to y'all and say it was easy and my hard worked payed of because it didnât. I remember one semester I was working 30+ hours which caused me to fail 2 classes. That caused me to be on academic probation. I wanted to quit so bad because I thought I wasnât good enough. I honestly donât know why I didnât quit, but I kept going. I got 2 internships in a fortune 45 company. And now 6 years later (yes it took me 6 years to graduate and thereâs nothing shameful about that. College is not a race. Take your time!!) I have a job lined up where I get to travel for the next 2 years and work in aerospace and military defense. I finally got to tell my mom that she didnât have to work. And I was the first one in my family to graduate.
I know Iâm very privilege because of my residency status. But I hope I can inspire other brown girls from the south side of Chicago to reach for the stars. This goes out to my parents and all my friends that lost their lives in the streets.
