I really want to run this West Marches campaign, but I gotta be sure it won't get in the way of college :(
No offense, but your "fursona" is not some cute uwu creechur.
Like, its grimace is what I remember most vividly. A crude slit in the skin of its face, the corners pulled back to reveal rows of pristine, uneven teeth. Black soulless eyes conveying a hollow cordiality, a glimmer of a rehearsed attempt to display emotions alien to its dark abyssal mind. An absolutely mirthless attempt at expression - perhaps an especially transparent trap. A trap... for some reason that notion feels so fitting, though I cannot explain why. And what it wants with my trust, I have no idea. Nor do I have any intention of finding out. What a horrific pantomime of an innocent creature. Fucking hell.
The worldbuilding for my current singleplayer tabletop game has been an exercise in questioning my own political values and what kind of world I'd like to see.
I'm creating a nation that, for once, I can confidently call the 'good guys' of the story. One that maybe isn't a utopia, but is striving to be one in imperfect conditions. I'm giving them policies and ideologies and a culture that I (mostly) agree with, and then I look for a way to critique it.
The powers that be would not have given up control without a fight. Any radically new system would come about through revolution or immense hardship - or both. How would a nation like this realistically gain power? Why do they have such a robust interplanetary military? Where did it sharpen its teeth? How does it keep itself from going soft during a time of relative 'peace?' What has my perfect nation done to get here? Who got what they wanted and who didn't? How were these issues resolved? How violent was it? How do these events affect modern day?
Maybe this is all because I'm an American. I have trouble imagining any superpower like that being fully (or at all) benevolent. Any organization that's accumulated this much power was surely built on mountains of bones, right? Or am I so clouded by American history/politics/culture that I can't even imagine a utopia without its own dark, ugly baggage?
But I look at the rest of the world, the places orbiting the evil empires, and I see enabler states, bystander states, opportunist states, and then finally, the oppressed - and then those oppressed by the oppressed. I can't help but feel in my gut that the business of nations and states is inherently a bloody one. I just can't shake that nagging doubt. And I find the idea of a perfect utopia beyond reproach so much more off-putting and disingenuous than a flawed, even hypocritical one.
So that's what I'm trying to explore here. A state and a nation that are almost perfect as I would see it, dropped into a realistic world where it is morally contaminated by the messiness of politics and people. A fantasy covered in mud.
I hope the result is something I can look in the eyes and believe exists, and I hope any players of this game appreciate it as well.
SHE LIVED! SHE LIVED!!!
Just finished the first full-length playtest of my singleplayer tabletop campaign, and amazingly, my randomly generated crush survived the carnage. Her DEF die was only a D4, meaning that every time she's targeted by an enemy she rolls a D4. Whenever she rolled a 2 she was injured, meaning a subsequent attack would be lethal, and if she'd ever rolled a 1 she would have died instantly. Managing the squad is mostly about mitigating these risks with armor, fortifications, etc.
Despite deploying her every chance I got (her stats were not that different from the other low-tier grunts, but she had good vibes), she actually survived to the end of the campaign! As did a couple of her friends.

I made a random character generator for a future project of mine.
It also lets you customize it like a picrew though there aren't many options.

LOOKING FOR PLAYTESTERS
I'm trying to run a blind playtest for my (currently untitled) tabletop game about driving a tank and blowing up big monsters.
If that sounds interesting reply/reblog this post or DM me for info. I need all the hands I can get.
For anyone interested, we have reached our 5 players needed, but you can still be a backup in case someone bails, or join the next test! Here's the server we're testing on.

MY DEBUT TTRPG JUST CAME OUT ON ITCH
1000 Years Of Daylight is a gnostic-inspired tactical TTRPG where you have to build a resistance network to fight the servants of the entity that calls himself "god."
Accumulate a powerful loadout of magic items, then hone them with over 150 modifications.
Build a resistance network and construct and upkeep bases throughout the world.
Fight angels, demons, and creatures(TM).
Where's the link????? Idk how I forgot that lmao
Dude I look CRAZY!! Tumblr stop eating my links...

Tricked myself into using the Blender Game Engine again.
It's so deceptively approachable for someone like me that's been using Blender since I was 11, but after a day of coding and troubleshooting and combing through link-rotted resources, you quickly remember, for example, that the physics engine is so busted that you can just walk against a wall and wiggle the camera back and forth to clip through it. Or that Flipper animation is genuinely broken and cannot be fixed. Or that there's no formal particle system.
I have so much nostalgia for it too, but it's just not worth it sadly.
To be clear I mean the old game engine from 2.79 and earlier. I do want to try out UPBGE sometime.

I've got my debut TTRPG out on itch.io and another (shorter) game is already in the oven!
I'm also thinking of making a return to Twine games, or making solo tabletops that are in the spirit of Twine.
