Pyra the Pyro

Sebastian could not help but to smile at her words, although he still stared at the floor. It was hard for him to be in a situation like this, being as he had never been here before. “Well…” he began, clearing his throat a bit “I’m not sure if we are going to be sailing any seas for a while.”

Sebastian sighed, unsure of how to really go about the topic. It was a weird switch but something he desperately needed to speak to someone about. “This whole Mer thing, I’m honestly not sure where that puts us at all. Pirates, I mean. Then there’s the whole thing where we can’t even find jobs because no one in these lands trusts us. Not that I blame them. I’ve been stealing since I got here.” He was rambling but he couldn’t stop the words from spilling out. He wanted to ask what the pair would do to build a life together. He knew all about what people were supposed to do: go on dates, move in together, get married, have children. But none of that seemed to apply here. They were criminals in Wonderland, unwanted people sailing around causing issues. He wanted to say all of this but instead, it came out as  “How do we build a life together if we’re prohibited to live the life we deserve?”

Pyra smiled back, though she watched him with a curiosity and attempted to figure out what was going on in his mind. “We could, it’s just very dangerous...” She admitted. A gentle sigh escaped her lips as she pondered their dilemma in that case. He was right. They likely wouldn’t be, and it was probably a smart decision.

"As have I... but admittedly I haven’t been looking terribly hard for a job either. I’ve wanted to get back to sailing the seas so badly I didn’t want to feel restricted by a job. Nor leave it behind the moment it’s safe again.” She ran her hand through her hair. “What if we just.. embrace this. Enjoy it before we’re to set sail again... I’m not sure I’m minding it too much right now honestly.. It’s not as bad as Artemisia when I’m not being forced to stay there.” She was technically forced due to an inability to sail but... there was somethinf different this time. Better. Sebastian was here. Sebastian was hers now. “What if... what if we went into wood working? Just for a time while we’re here... perhaps when we decide to leave pirating behind as well... we can’t do that forever. We can make things... Or anything really... if no one wants to hire us, we make a business for ourselves. We’re handy enough, aren’t we?”

Sebastian was doing his best not to look at Pyra at first. He pretended to be interested in the wall, sensing that she was looking at him. He did his best to play it cool but in truth, his heart was pounding out of his chest. He was never good with talking about feelings and he could feel that such a conversation was about to happen. He flexed his fingers out from a fist, stretching his tendons as much as he could before they began to hurt. 

It wasn’t until Pyra put her hands on him that he turned to look at her, his heart beating faster when she began to speak. This was it. This was the talk, the moment where friends and colleagues became something more and could never go back to the way things were. Sebastian dreaded the moment. “Well…I…” He began, unsure of what to say, his mind failing to provide the words. “I could pretend to know anything about relationships, tell you some sappy nonsense about how things go from where I’m from but…the truth is, I have no idea. I just know that this is the start of something…” He cleared his throat “My heart is yours, if you want it.”

She had had a funny feeling Sebastian was intentionally not looking her way. But Pyra wasn’t exactly one to shy away from a conversation because someone didn’t want it. She wanted to get things done. If they were to be friends, then friends it was. She would dampen her feelings again and ignore them. If he wanted to be more... well then things were going to change but she would welcome that change with open arms.

Pyra let him sort his thoughts out, her face remaining somewhat neutral. She would either be elated, or disappointed. However, she hadn’t wanted to get her hopes up one way or the other without actually talking to him about it. When he spoke a smile, somewhat relieved took over her features. There was something so endearing about his seeming awkwardness in this conversation. “I would like that, and mine is yours you know... has been for quite some time.” She admitted softly. “I don’t know anything about relationships either... but I know I want to sail those seas and figure it out with you.”

Aisling’s predicament was simple: coin was valuable, and valuable things were the best way to start her new life of revenge. The Fevered Forest was pathetically bright and sunny, and she didn’t need eyesight to feel the lighter atmosphere compared to The Tulgey. This was the road most travelers passed on, and travelers had coin. A bit of pain for a bit of gain. To draw in innocent passerby, Aisling twisted the sounds of the chirping birds and rustling branches into a tantalizing song. A flawless plan.

At last, an unsuspecting victim passed beneath the tree she waited in. Aisling leaped down and brushed the sweat from her forehead, frowning. “Took you long enough. This place sickens me.” She held out her hand. “Three gold coins to pass, two to pass after giving up your clothes, and one if you have a death wish. Get on with it.”

Sebastian was busy today- Pyra had wanted to visit the forest again. The way the warmth permeated the air, the way she simply had to think of starting a fire and the ease at how it would spring to life. She walked along, letting the heat warm her, letting flames flicker over her fingers and dance for a moment before disappearing. She liked the way the heat here seemed to reach to her bones. To her very core. She knew why the pixies chose to live here. She wouldn’t- but it was a nice place to visit.

When the girl jumped out of the tree Pyra barely blinked. Raising a brow at the girl’s comment. “Then why stand around here...?” She knew full well why as the girl had already finished her ‘offer’ by the time she responded. Instead Pyra just glanced down at her fingernails as if inspecting them, then turned her attention back to the girl. “How about I keep my gold, and you keep your pretty little face?” As she spoke a flame sprang to life in her fingers. She would likely fly off before she burned the girl- she appeared to fairly young. Probably just needing a bit of coin... Pyra didn’t take well to threats but she also didn’t harm the innocent.

Pyra hated the clothes- except she really didn’t. They looked damn good on him. And the red and black went well with her outfit. She liked the typical pirate look. On both him, and herself. Her usual outfit had only two layers, but she thought it would still have been less bothersome than this dress. Though it had fewer frills than some others it was still more fabric than necessary.
