Here we go, kiddos. This isn’t the drive poster you requested but it’s almost the same process. This tutorial was done in PS CS4.

First and foremost, lets start off with showing you the original image and the finished product. If your original image is too dark you may have to duplicate it and set it to screen once or twice to lighten it up a bit. The next thing I should mention is that you should try to look for a HQ picture for better results.

Also, a lot of you may notice this looks sort of similar to that other abstract/watercolor tutorial I did, it’s a different and easier way of going about it and it gives it a few extra details. Plus, with this one you can change the texture 

[01] Open up your original image by going to File > Open. Ok, so the first thing we are going to do is erase the background from the original image, so we get this result. The reason we do that is so that we can concentrate the watercolor texture to the subject and not have it be picked up in the background and take away from the effect. I used the eraser tool in the Tools Palette to erase my background (for further instructions on how to erase the background look here). After you’re done erasing the background, right click on your base layer in the Layers Palette and select “flatten image”. This will fill in the background of your image with the color white. Next, we will turn the image black and white. I like to use the vibrance layer to turn my images into black and white because it kind of compliments the image with a more softer outcome, imo (as opposed to doing it by going to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate). I adjust my settings as so, and Flatten the image again. 

[02] In this next step we are going to duplicate our base image twice by right clicking on the image in the Layers Palette and selecting “duplicate layer”. Select the first duplicated layer and go to Filter > Artistic > Watercolor (my settings are set as: Brush Detail: 14, Shadow Intensity: 0, Texture: 1) and select OK. You’re free to mess around with the settings depending on your image, in my case I wanted to apply the watercolor effect as minimally as possible- I don’t want it to be too messy. so it looks kind of clean. Now, with the second layer we are going to go to Image > Adjustments > Threshold (my settings are these). Your settings are going to be different depending on your image, you just have to move the little dial at the bottom either left or right until your subject features are somewhat apparent. 

[03] Select the first duplicated layer (the one that we applied the Watercolor Filter to) and in the Layers Palette set the blend mode to “soft light”, your image should look something like this. Then take the second duplicated layer (the one we applied the Threshold Adjustment to) and set the blend mode to “multiply” and we are going to change the opacity to 55%. Flatten all of our layers and our image should look something like this.

[04] For this next step you have to make sure you have two colors selected in your Tools Palette with a darker color at the top and a lighter color at the bottom. The top color is what gives you the pattern for what we are about to do and the bottom color is going to determine what color will be your background. So, I chose grey at top and white at bottom (because I want white background). Once you’ve selected your colors, go to Filter > Sketch > Halftone Pattern (Settings- Size:1, Contrast: 31, Pattern Type: Dot). Again, you are going to have to adjust the settings according to your image. Keep the Size and Pattern Type the same, but you can mess around with the Contrast if you need to, the important thing to remember is that your background remains white-ish and that the face of your subject isn’t dark. this is what mine looks like.

[05] Now that we have those adjustments and filters out of the way we can work on adding the textures to our image. The first texture we are going to use is this one (credit: lostandtaken), I re-sized it before applying it to my image to about the same width as my graphic. Copy and paste the texture on top of your image and set it to “Screen” in your Adjustments Palette, so it will look all colorful like this. Next, we will apply our second texture (credit: lostandtaken) by copying and pasting it on top of our image and setting it to “linear burn” with the opacity of 34%. pretty isn’t it? Well not for long, let’s turn it into black and white (I applied a vibrance layer like before and adjusted it like this). Ahhh, much better. =)

[06] If you wish you can leave it like that, or you can add a tint of color like I did. I applied a color balance layer in the Layers Palette and set it like so (you can experiment with the little pointers to find the color you’re satisfied with). And we are done! Easy, right? looking goooood, rose. * If you feel the need to you can sharpen the overall graphic a bit by going to Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen.

BTS is NOT “the first kpop act” to appear in America, and not the first to sign under an American label.

🔹️SNSD signed a contract under Warner Music and they released an English version for Run Devil Run alongside other of their hits. 🔹️Psy, CL, 2NE1, Bigbang and SNSD are one of the artists that won at the YouTube Awards in America and also all around Europe. 🔹️BIGBANG was featured on CNN.

🔹️2NE1 won an award at the MTV IGGY.ad Best Band in the World.

🔹️The very first kpop group to win outside Korea was Super Junior.

🔹️Epik High was invited to perform at Coachella.

🔹️Psy, Bigbang, BoA, Se7en and CL are the firsts to sign under an american label.

🔹️ The Hallyu Wave reached Japan through DBSK (TVXQ) and later followed by the huge second gen groups.GDRAGON was featured in Forbes’ 30 Under 30.

🔹️ 2NE1 was featured in one of CNN’s Documentary talking about the “Hallyu Wave”. 🔹️Microsoft made 2NE1 their honorary ambassadors. 2NE1 performed on America’s Next Top Model.

🔹️They were featured on an episode of The Bachelor. BIGBANG won at the MTV EMA. 🔹️GDRAGON won World’s Best Entertainer at the World Music Awards in 2014;

🔹️BIGBANG was nominated as Best Band and Best LIVE Act.

🔹️2NE1 was nominated as well on the Best Group, Best LIVE Act, Best Video and Best Song Category.

The Hallyu Wave has been happening for a decade. IT DID NOT BEGIN LAST YEAR.

So don’t act like superiors saying that BTS introduced Kpop Worldwide because the artists above lead and they just followed. These artists opened the gates of opportunity for so many Kpop artists and BTS happened to be one of those who hopped on that train.

You’re hurt? We stepped on your ego? We’re just telling the truth.

These are FACTS. Look them up, kids.
