"Okay, class," the teacher spoke. "You will be writing a two to five page essay on this chapter."
Kerrington Moray had her phone out, hidden from the teacher’s eyes. She had her thumb pressed on the screen, recording what her teacher had said. Then, Kerrington whispered her addition so the phone would pick up the sound. “No damn way am I doing five,” she said. “I’m doin’ two, stay fierce.”
She quickly posted her video to Vine, then left it for the twenty people that followed her.
After her last period, she took out her phone again, to see multiple notifications on the home screen. She opened Vine, and found herself tagged in a video.
A boy in a snapback and hoodie appeared on her screen. He had glasses on to start.
"Alright class, you’ll be doing a two to five page essay today."
Kerrington looked at it confused. The boy was cute, and he was impersonating her. What possessed him to do that?
"You’re outta your damn mind if you think I’m doing five," the boy said. "I’m doin’ two, stay fierce."
Kerrington just stared at her phone. She wanted to know who this was. She clicked on the username, and read the profile. Carter Reynolds.
Kerrington was in shock. A Magcon boy, of all people, imitated her Vine. She checked back at her profile, to see nine new followers. All Magcon boys.
Kerrington’s phone alerted her to a direct message from Twitter. She opened it, and saw a message from none other than Carter Reynolds.
Hey, I’m Carter. Just wanted to say, I love your Vines and all of the boys would like to meet you. Magcon is touring, so if you can make it to a city, that’s great ;)
Kerrington quickly looked up the tour dates. They were making a stop in Chicago, so she quickly got on Twitter to respond to Carter.
Hi! This is Kerrington. You guys are gonna be in Chicago, so I’ll find a way to get there and see you guys. Sound good? Thank you for watching my Vines ;)
She sent the message with a smile on her face. She walked out to her bus, then sat down in the back of it.
Kerrington was still dazed about her impersonation by a Magcon boy. She had always wished to be that noticed, but with everyone flocking to watch them, she was sure that all of the fangirls didn’t want to watch her.
Kerrington saw her house approaching, so she stood and walked to the front of the bus. She grabbed the pole that stood before the stairs as the bus halted to a stop.
"Here you go, Moray," the bus driver said. Kerrington smiled, and waved.
"Thanks, Mr. Lewis," Kerrington said. She hopped off the last step of the bus.
Kerrington took off at full speed into her house. She raced to her dad’s office, then sat down in front of the computer. She quickly went on the Magcon site to order her tickets, and she picked out a beanie to wear to the event. The tickets and beanie would arrive tomorrow, and she couldn’t wait.
She pulled out her phone and opened Vine to find eight-hundred new followers. She recorded a Vine quickly.
"Hey, it’s Kerr! I’ll be at Magcon in Chicago on Saturday, come and find me!" she said. She posted the Vine, then went to eat her dinner with her dad and mom.
Kerrington shot up at the sound of her phone going off. She had been bouncing off the walls about her trip to meet the Magcon boys.
It was five in the morning, but she had to catch a train in an hour and a half. She showered at high speed, then put on her clothes, and topped it all off with her Magcon beanie. She felt too lazy to put her contacts in, so she just put her glasses on. Kerrington made her way down the stairs to her kitchen.
She made a Pop-Tart, and drank a glass of orange juice. An hour passed, so she grabbed her house key, and went to the door.
Kerrington left a note for her parents, then walked into the neighborhood. It took her about ten minutes to get to the station.
She went to a bench near a vending machine. She bought herself a bottle of Crush, then sat down on the bench.
"Attention passengers, the train will
be arriving on the northbound platform.”
Kerrington hopped up, then saw the train approach from the northbound track. She stood just behind the yellow line as the train screeched into the station. The doors opened, and she hopped on, taking a left into the train car and taking a seat by the window.
Kerrington was now outside the station, attempting to hail a cab to the hotel that Magcon was being held at.
She succeeded about five minutes later. Kerrington sat in a dead silence, paying the man when he came to the front of the hotel. She hopped out of the car, waved goodbye to the taxi driver, and went inside. There was a big group of half- dressed girls that were screaming in excitement near a ballroom entrance. Kerrington went to pick up her wristband, and got a pass on a lanyard.
"Ah, Miss Moray, the boys requested to see you before the VIP tickets enter," the man said. "Show this pass to the security guard at the ballroom door and he’ll let you in."
"Thank you, sir," Kerrington said, smiling. "I’ll head there as soon as I can."
Kerrington walked to the ballroom, making her way past the hoards of girls that were squealing about the boys.
She pushed her way to the front of the group, flashing her pass to the security guard.
"Hello, miss Kerrington," the guard said, opening the door.
"She’s not as pretty as me."
Kerrington rolled her eyes, then slowly slipped in the door. An empty ballroom lay before her.
"Duck and cover!" a voice yelled. "Rabid fans!" A face popped out from behind the Magcon banner.
"It’s just me," Kerrington said awkwardly. "I’m Kerrington Moray, from Vine. I think Carter found my Vines?"
Nine faces popped out of hiding places. They slowly approached her, then formed a semi-circle around her. The boys all stood around and introduced themselves.
"Hi, I’m Cameron," a boy with brown hair and brown eyes spoke. He had on a hoodie with his name on it, cargo shorts, and a pair of hi-top style shoes. He held his arms out, and Kerrington quickly hugged him.
"I’m Nash." A boy with dark brown hair and extremely bright blue eyes said. He had a t-shirt and jeans on, and a black bracelet on his wrist. He followed in the steps of Cameron and held his arms out, so she could hug him. She did the same with him, hugging him quickly.
All of the boys introduced themselves. There were six others that introduced themselves afterwards. Jack Gilinsky, Shawn, Taylor, Aaron, Jack Johnson, and Matt. There was one boy left for her to meet, and he was the one who got her here.
"I’m Carter," he said. He was a lot cuter in person, and had a snapback and hoodie on. The same outfit he had worn in his Vine impersonation of Kerrington. He also had glasses on; they were strikingly similar to Kerrington’s.
"It’s fantastic to finally meet you," Kerrington said. She wrapped her arms around his body tightly, hugging him and smiling. "Thanks for watching me, that means a lot."
"Girl, your Vines are classic," Matt said, a smile on his face. "I love them." Kerrington felt slightly embarrassed, yet still giddy with excitement at meeting the boys and having them praise her Vines. Carter wore a huge smile on his face.
Carter was so excited to finally meet Kerrington. He’d been watching her Vines for a while now, and wanted to keep her for himself. But, thanks to Nash and Jack J., he hadn’t been able to do that. Now everyone knew about her.
"Thanks," Kerrington said. "I went from twenty followers to nearly a hundred thousand yesterday. I have Carter to thank for that." Kerrington awkwardly leaned over and gave him a hug from the side. He smiled, then looked over at Kerrington.
"No, thank you," Carter said. "For coming to see me- uh, us. I didn’t think you would." Kerrington laughed.
"Who’d pass up this kind of opportunity?" Kerrington said. "You guys seem like awesome people, and the fact that you can deal with this much estrogen for multiple hours is extremely admirable."
"Wow, you’re smart," Jack J. said. "I like you." Kerrington smiled, still slightly embarrassed.
"Thanks," she said. "So are you." Jack J. smiled, and gave her a huge hug.
"So, Kerrington," Cameron said. "We want for you to join us on stage during the show." Kerrington’s face morphed into a shocked one, then it turned confused.
"Are you sure?" she asked. "I mean, they’ve come to see you, and I don’t think they’ll appreciate me wrecking the show."
"Nah," Nash said. "I bet a few of them are following you, they’ll know who you are." Kerrington smiled.
"Actually," Carter said. "I may have already put out a Vine that you’d be here." He had a sheepish smile on his face, as well as a shade of pink on his cheeks.
Kerrington stood in shock. Well, at least the fans were expecting her to be there. She’d have less backlash. Or, at least that’s what she thought.
"Okay," a man said. "The VIP fans are coming in fifteen minutes, and after talking to a few of them, they want to meet Kerrington. So, she’ll be stationed with Carter and Matt for pictures and signings and such." The man smiled at Kerrington, and he shook her hand with a smile on his face.
The man walked off, leaving Kerrington awkwardly standing there. “They… they want to meet me?” she said softly. Carter and Matt were smiling like Cheshire cats.
"Of course they do," Jack J. said. "You’re funny, relatable, and not to mention gorgeous." Kerrington blushed, a smile on her face. Carter gave her a small smile.
"Let’s go get ready! Last minute hair checks," Matt said, snapping his fingers behind him and strutting toward his spot on the meet and greet trail. Kerrington laughed, covering her mouth with her hand. She walked off to the end of the line with Carter, who was still smiling at her.
"You don’t know what you’ve done for me," Kerrington said, turning to Carter. "This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I don’t know how I could repay you for it."
Carter smiled, then pulled her in for a hug. “You’re one of the most original people I’ve seen on there. I love your sarcasm and that you can make me laugh every day.”
Kerrington felt warm. Not just body heat, but inside. Someone had made her feel warm. She never really experienced this type of feeling before.
However, Carter had. Every day that Kerrington posted a new Vine, that feeling swept over him like a tsunami. He didn’t understand it himself, but she made him feel good, especially on a day when haters were on high.
"Thanks, Carter," Kerrington said. The two of them talked for a good ten minutes, and that’s when the doors opened.
The majority of the girls were half-dressed and very flaunting of their assets. Kerrington didn’t mind, however. She loved meeting new people, no matter how badly dressed they were.
The majority of the girls flocked to Nash and Cameron. Not a big surprise, they were extremely popular, but that kinda brought Matt and Carter down.
"Hey," Kerrington said. "You guys are my favorites. And look, here comes a group of girls."
To Kerrington’s utter shock, they were nicely dressed. No one’s boobs were drooping, no one’s ass was hanging out. Kerrington was very pleased.
"Thank you for wearing a bra," Kerrington said. "I appreciate not having to look at drooping boobs." The girl in the front was wearing a t-shirt that said ‘You Cool? Or Nah?’ on it. "Oh, and your shirt rocks."
"Thanks," the girl said. "I’m Julia, it’s nice to meet you." Kerrington gave Julia a hug.
"I’m Kerrington, it’s fantastic to meet you," Kerrington said. "I’m sure you know the two boys."
"Yes," Julia said. "I do. I know you, too. As soon as Carter put his Vine out that you’d be here today, I screamed a little. I was your fifth follower on Vine, I love them a lot." Kerrington smiled.
Julia gave a bag to each of the boys, and they both hugged her. They were so excited to meet fans.
"Okay, how do you want to do your pose?" Matt asked. Julia just asked for the three of them to make faces at the phone. They all made dumb faces; Kerrington almost laughed out loud.
Around a half-hour later, at least seventy pictures had been taken. Various selfies, and group shots. One of the girls had even brought a gift bag for Kerrington. She couldn’t believe it, a fan giving her a gift. She never thought it would happen.
While slowly eating a Ring Pop, someone tapped her on the shoulder. Carter stood there, phone in his hand and a smile on his face.
"Yes, Mr. Carter?" Kerrington asked. Carter rolled his eyes, then took her hand and pulled her up.
"We haven’t taken a selfie yet," Carter said. Kerrington smiled, then took Carter’s phone, making a shocked face. He stood in the background, looking at her like she had two heads. Then, they took a smiling selfie.
"There, that one can go on Instagram," Kerrington said. Carter smiled, and put both pictures on Instagram.
"Do you have one?" Carter asked. "You know, so I can tag you in it."
"No, I don’t. Only Vine and Twitter," Kerrington said. Carter shrugged, then posted the picture.
Hanging w/ THE Kerrington Moray @ Chicago Magcon! Come and see us :)
After Carter had sent out his tweet, around fifteen other people had made their way over to the booth that the three were standing at.
Kerrington got three more gift bags from fans. One of them even gave her a shirt that said “Stay Fierce” on it. She laughed upon seeing it, and gave the fan a huge hug.
"Thank you," Kerrington said.
"You’re welcome!" the fan said. "You’re the best, you know." Kerrington blushed in shock, and smiled.
The fan gave hugs to Carter and Matt, then went off to see Aaron and Shawn. The manager gave a final warning, then let all of the Magcon boys and Kerrington go backstage.
Carter took Kerrington’s hand, and walked with her backstage. Matt took Kerrington’s other hand, and swung it back and forth.
Kerrington leaned over and kissed both of the boys on the cheek. “Thanks guys,” Kerrington said. The two boys had pink cheeks afterwards. Matt and Carter both smiled, and they both kissed her cheeks at the same time.
"Hah! That’s so going on Instagram," Kerrington heard. Nash and Cameron were behind her, and she whipped around with a smirk.
"Okay," Kerrington said. "But you have to make a Vine with me. Oh, and you need to play truth or dare on stage." Nash smiled, and Cameron threw his arm around Kerrington’s shoulder.
"You got it," Cameron said, winking at her. Kerrington smiled, then walked back to Matt and Carter.
"Kerr has returned!" Matt said. Kerrington laughed, then got ready to watch the boys go on.
The DJ, Mahogany Lox, was already pumping up the music and letting it fly. She then put the microphone by her mouth, announcing everyone by name.
"Please welcome Aaron Carpenter, Jack Gilinsky, Shawn Mendes, Nash Grier, Matt Espinosa, Jack Johnson, Taylor Caniff, Carter Reynolds, and Cameron Dallas!" she yelled into the microphone.
The girls in the crowd screamed, yelled, and squealed like mad. Kerrington’s ears almost felt like they were going to bleed.
"You forgot someone, Mahogany," Cameron said, smirking. Mahogany looked absolutely confused. She counted with her fingers, then looked offstage. She caught sight of Kerrington by the stage entrance, and smiled.
Kerrington, however, was paying no attention. She was looking at the people in the crowd, as well as the boys onstage.
"Oh, sorry about that," Mahogany said. "Please welcome, miss Kerrington Moray." Kerrington’s eyes shot up to Mahogany and the boys. They smiled, beckoning for her to come on stage with them. The crowd was going crazy for Kerrington, so she just shyly walked up the steps.
As soon as her foot hit the stage, the fans went wild. The boys were cheering and squealing and fanning themselves in mockery of fangirls.
Mahogany handed her a mic, and Kerrington sort of looked at it funny for a couple seconds.
"This is our favorite Viner, and you know her name," Matt said. "She’s the Queen of sarcasm and sass. Everyone wants to marry her." The crowd laughed, and the boys sort of glared at Matt.
"Zaayum, you gotta bae? Or nah, you tryna date? Or nah?" Nash said sassily. Kerrington walked over and smacked him on the arm. Nash just laughed at her, then wrapped one of his arms around her shoulders.
Kerrington wanted to see if anyone remembered her ‘Haters’ Vine. “I think Skylynn did this one,” Kerrington said. “What do we say to haters?”
"Your weave stank!" the crowd shouted. Kerrington laughed, then covered her face in embarrassment.
"Oh, and my beautiful friends out there," Taylor said. "You can thank Carter for having Kerr here today. He lurves her." Carter looked away sheepishly, then smiled at the stage floor.
"I SHIP IT!" someone yelled from the crowd. Kerrington laughed loudly, then walked over to Carter and gave him a huge hug. He, of course, turned around and hugged back, then lifted Kerrington into the air.
"Now that’s on Vine," Cameron said. Kerrington turned around with a fake scowl on her face. She took a dive at Cameron, then tickled his sides till he fell over.
"Nicely done," someone in the front row said.
"What’s your name?" Kerrington asked. The fifteen-year-old girl looked shocked, but nonetheless happy.
"Zander," she said. "Zander Camp."
"Well, Zander, you are my new best friend for the day." Kerrington said. She walked out to the audience, then got her over the barricade and onto the stage.
Zander gave Kerrington a huge hug, then proceeded on with the rest of the boys. Shawn’s hug lingered a little longer than the rest, which gave Kerrington a tell-tale sign. She liked him. Kerrington smiled, then went over to stand by Carter and Matt. Zander stayed standing by Shawn and Aaron.
"Okay!" Nash said. "By request of a few fans and Kerrington, we’re going to be playing truth or dare."
Kerrington took a seat on the floor. Carter and Matt were on her left, and Zander and Shawn were on her right.
"Okay, audience," Matt said. "I’m going to go first. Zander, truth or dare?"
"Um, dare," Zander answered.
"Okay," Matt said. He tapped his fingers on his chin in thought. "I want you to hold your breath, and kiss the hottest one of us up here. In your opinion, of course."
Zander took a deep breath in, then looked around at everybody. Her eyes travelled naturally to Shawn, so she kissed him on the cheek. Kerrington gave an ‘aw’ to Zander, who just blushed and looked at the floor.
Shawn had a pink tint to his whole face. He had the world’s cutest little smile painted on his mouth, and Zander couldn’t help but notice.
"Ooh, a Mendes lover," Taylor said, winking at Zander. "Your turn, Zander."
Zander cleared her throat, then turned to face Carter. “Carter, truth or dare?”
Carter smirked, then answered “Truth”. Zander had an evil little grin on her face, and she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Would you rather date Ariana Grande or Kerrington?" she asked. Kerrington’s mouth opened in shock. Carter’s faced turned tomato red in embarrassment. He muttered something under his breath, then looked at Zander.
"Kerrington," Carter said. "Any day. She’s smarter and funnier, and she’d be with me on most weekends." The crowd "aw’d" again, and Kerrington awkwardly looked at the stage floor.
"Okay," Carter said. "Nash, truth or dare?"
"Dare," Nash said, clicking his tongue on the roof of his mouth.
"I dare you to tweet out ‘Carter is a sex god and I’m a pink püma machine’," Carter said. Kerrington laughed as soon Carter had finished speaking.
Carter looked over and smiled at Kerrington, who had her eyes closed as she was laughing.
"I STILL SHIP IT!" someone yelled. Carter again felt hot, and the rest of the boys were smirking at him.
Kerrington just smiled through the whole thing. She scooted next to Carter, and put her arms around his waist. He put his arm around her shoulder, then played with the ends of her curls.
"You know what, I knew it," Nash said. "You’ve been crushing on her since you first saw her."
"So what if I have?" Carter asked. "She’s amazing girl." Kerrington blushed a hot red.
That day was the start of a multi-week tour with Magcon. Those weeks held multiple games of Truth or Dare, as well as many fan gifts and meet-and-greets. Kerrington even got to eight-hundred-thousand followers on Vine by the last week of Magcon.
Magcon took an ugly turn after the New Jersey show in April. Kerrington hadn’t known what was going on, but her knowledge on the subject turned around quickly when she got a text from Cameron.
Kerrington felt her chest tighten. Leaving? What did he mean?
We’re leaving Magcon. Me, Nash, Hayes, and Carter.
No. Not her four closest friends. The other boys were extremely close to her as well, but those four? Why did it have to be them?
Kerrington cried into the hotel room pillow for a good half-hour. She felt down and out of it; her makeup was well past smudged.
A knock on Kerrington’s door snapped her back to reality, but that didn’t stop her from crying while walking to the door. She opened the door to six familiar faces, and they looked on the verge of tears as well.
Mahogany was the first to run and hug Kerrington, who gripped onto her extremely tight. Kerrington just cried onto her shirt, and looked up at the boys. Jack G. had shed a few tears, and that caused Kerrington to let go of Mahogany and quickly move to him.
"What happened to us, Kerr?" Jack mumbled into her hair. Kerrington shook her head.
"I don’t know, JG," Kerrington said sadly. "I don’t know what happened." Kerrington let go of him, then went over to Shawn, who took Kerrington into his embrace quickly. He pressed his lips to Kerrington’s temple, then tightened his grip on her body. Kerrington just relaxed into the warmth that Shawn was giving her.
"You guys can come in here," Kerrington said. "I’m sure it’s nicer in here than the doorway." The boys and Mahogany all came in the door, with Shawn still having a grip on Kerrington. She shut the door, and went over to her bed, sinking down by Aaron, who was sitting by the edge of the bed.
Aaron had been crying, and Kerrington could tell. The news had taken a toll on the boys, as well as Mahogany. Kerrington wrapped her arms around Aaron’s shoulders, making him cuddle up to her. He smiled softly as Kerrington laid her head on his shoulder, then pressed a kiss to the top of her head.
"We’ll get by," Kerrington said, running her fingers through Aaron’s hair. "You’ll see."
Kerrington’s phone started buzzing, signaling a call from someone. She stood up from the bed, then leaned over to see who was calling.
Kerrington hesitantly answered the phone, holding in her emotion and attempting to not cry. She took a deep breath, then spoke.
"Hey, this is Kerr," she said.
"Kerr!" Carter said. "Are you okay?" He sounded worried, like something had come to kill Kerrington.
"I got a message from Cam this morning telling me you up and left," Kerrington said. "Does that seem okay to you? Hmm? You should’ve been the one to tell me, I-I thought you’d be b-better than that. I th-thought you’d be decent about it. But no, you walked out without telling me. Tell Cam I said thanks for telling me about you guys leaving. Obviously he’s the only one with the nuts to tell me."
"Wait, Kerr," Carter said. "I-I didn’t mean to leave you hanging like that, I just… I j-just didn’t know how to tell you. I-I didn’t want to say goodbye."
"Carter, you wouldn’t’ve had to say goodbye," Kerrington said. "I would’ve gone with you, but you were stupid enough to leave me in the dark about this. I’ll call you later, Car." With that, she hung up the phone, then set it back on the table with a shaky hand.
"Oh, Kerr," Mahogany said, wrapping her arms around Kerrington. "I’m so sorry." Kerrington nodded on Mahogany’s shoulder, then sat on the bed next to Aaron again, who took her into his arms with a sad smile on his face.
"Come on Aaron," Kerrington said. "Smile, please. For me." Aaron smiled, and Kerrington followed suit.
"Sure," Jack J. said. "Leave it to the teddy bear to make her smile." Kerrington rolled her eyes at Jack, then walked over to him and kissed him on the cheek.
"Jealous, are we?" Kerrington asked. She sat next to him, then hugged him quickly. Kerrington walked back to Aaron after a few minutes.
"Have you guys seen Matt?" Taylor asked. The room collectively shrugged, and Kerrington’s eyes widened. She walked over to her phone, and quickly called him. Six rings, and nothing. Only a voicemail box.
"Hey, it’s Kerr, I just wanted to know where you were, call me when you get this, bye."
"Nothing?" Aaron asked. Kerrington shook her head, worried about where he went. Aaron started to look worried as soon as Kerrington’s face contorted.
"What’s happening?" Jack G. asked. "I don’t understand this at all." Kerrington walked over to him and sat on his leg, giving him a hug. Kerrington was almost weirded out by all the affection she was handing out in this last twenty minutes, but there were no regrets in Kerrington’s mind. Everyone needed a bit of love.
"I don’t either, JG," Kerrington said. "But I’ll be here for you guys. Always and forever."
kinkygilinsky Hey! Here’s my entry. :)
