Bridgerton S3.E5 ∙ Tick Tock
who? @xpolarisx Where? The Comedy Keep, Lysara
Look, there is something inherently terrifying about meeting a Master of Arts in the wild, when you yourself are a failed Journeyman of the Arts. Now, she has only briefly met Master Polaris during her time in the College, and she doubts he even remembers her all that much, considering how differently they present themselves to the world. While Corinna had been on the path to become a Master of Arts before her arrest, she had always relied on comedy for her acts, and if Master Polaris exuded anything it was high class. They were fully different in their approach to entertainment, but unlike with Lucilius, she did actually respect the silver elve.
Which means she can’t pretend she didn’t see him as she was asking if the Keep had any spots open for her act. It was his goddamn shop, after all. Can’t ignore the owner when she is trying to get some business.
“Master Polaris,” she greets, giving him a slight bow to show her respect. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
Most had evacuated by this point, but others had stayed to bear the brunt of the Kossith's arrival. Aurea didn't truly wish to grant them Haven, in some sense she dangled the town towards them on the hope that they were to arrive with those captured, too. The boat would have to dock somewhere, they could find them, take them out from under the Kossith's cruel reign, ensure Haven couldn't be taken either. These were all musts, if they were simple what ifs it led to doubt, to possible failure, and these were things which could not be fumbled on.
Aurea's most kindred and trusted emissaries still remained, but many others had been guided out with weaker and elder wolves. As such, Julian secured the quarters where they'd resided, ensuring that those who wished to be elsewhere had cleared out, checking that nothing of importance was left behind. He shut the doors of the emissary quarters behind him and turned promptly at the sound of gravel being kicked up behind him.
"Corinna," her voice stated with such emphasis lent to his clear surprise, "I hope you're not here to offer yourself up to fight." She could, he'd seen her within the ring, knew she had the tenacity to do so, but he wasn't sure he could handle any other friends in the crossfire.
“Now, don’t sound so unhappy to see me,” she says with a laugh and a roll of her eyes, already trying to undercut the tension that ratched up at the clear surprise in Julian’s tone. Since he was a wolf, he probably had more insiders information on this whole mess, so his reaction to her gracing Haven with her presence is kind of a letdown. Concerning too, because it means she is considering betting on a losing horse. Awesome. Wow. “I know I am trouble, but I am the good kind of trouble!”
And considering how dire everything seemed, they sure fucking needed the good kind of trouble. There is no such thing as a hopeless fight, just people unwilling to risk it all for survival’s sake. Now Corinna? She was first and foremost a survivor, so if she had to face an army of dickheads, to prevent
“Well, you are here, right? Can’t have you facing the big burly men all alone,” she says with a shrug. “And they stole the big star, so we have to give them all a good mollywhoop in honor to Dior.”
Between the work she completed directly with Aurea and gathering small pieces of intel from the animals that called the surrounding wilderness home, Seriswyn kept herself busy stocking ration kits, medical kits, and travel packs–anything really. Such a task was comforting in its mindlessness, so long as supplies were plentiful. But restocking them was, in truth, the bane of Seris’ existence. She was resolute to take as few trips between her temporary rooms and the store of the supplies, thus leading her to this situation where she had bit off significantly more than she could chew in terms of the load she was clumsily attempting to carry.
Corinna’s voice came from behind the large stack of boxes in her arms, and whoever it came from was a mystery to the Elvhen who could not see the gladiator over the boxes in her arms. “Would you mind? I think I’m only a moment away from dropping these,” Seris admitted, adjusting her stance to try and shift the top box back toward the center of the stack and preventing it from falling. “I’m not taking them far from here, I just–I had hoped to make a single trip.”
Aw shit. There is an instinctual urge to grumble, but Corinna had offered to help and despite her mom raising a bitch, she isn’t that much of an asshole.
“I offered to help, didn’t I?” She comments, sidestepping whether she minds or not, because well, she does mind but here is she doing it regardless. Still, she makes a show of showing off her arms for the benefit of the audience. Muscles she has, sure, but how she looks makes people be very confused about it and it’s always incredibly funny. “And I am pretty strong, so I don’t mind the work out.”
Keeping a cheerful grin, she nods even though the other can’t see her and steps forward, before a crucial crop up and she has to squint up at the boxes thoughtfully. Rather than just taking it carelessly, she makes a point of standing as tall as she can and reaching up for the top boxes carefully. There are times where stumbling around and falling works fine and well, but she is pretty sure there is important shit in these boxes and it’s better if she doesn’t break anything accidentally. The gods know she doesn’t have the money to pay for it. “And I get it, finishing things faster is always the way to go. Things get boring if you are too slow and steady.”

COSTUME APPRECIATION Penelope Featherington — Bridgerton

who? @incubusnero where? Eterna, Lysara when? Post the Storm Approaches
The benefits of knowing people are that whenever she comes up with a wild scheme she knows just to go to for help. In this case, her scheme is one of her tamer ones, even if the clinking of the potions in the box she is carrying would imply otherwise. Corinna had been feeding herself through her fan’s donations for years, so convincing them and others to spare some more coin to help protect Haven is not really that much different. This time is only one box, but if she does regular trips down to Eterna it might amount to something over time. And hey! Who knows? Maybe one of those potions would save her ass later on.
“Hey Nero!” She calls out from behind the big box she is carrying. “I hear you are moving things to Haven, and I have some things for you to move.”
And who knows, once this business is done they can talk about the bath water stuff.
Date: Latest plot developments Location: Eterna, we in the big city Characters: @pursuingcorinna & @luciliustheforsworn Notes: From #plot-calls :)
Despite the sense of impending doom, the markets were booming. It was irony at its most hilarious - the 'controlled' chaos brewing in the calm before the storm. No Kossith had made it past Aventia, but many surely believed only time tell would when it happened. As the citized busied themselves stocking up for the unfolding chaos, Lucilius called for charity donations with his associates in the name of his reputable Lounge. Student bards under his employ from The Dragon's Drought played music, dancers danced in the streets and performers announced the Lounge's charity with signs and loud voices. Lucilius made himself busy overseeing the efforts, hands crossed against his chest after he'd subtlety called out an employee for flirting too long with a donor.
He almost didn't notice Corinna until she was right by his side. His forced smile became a little more forced, nearly a grimace. "Ah, Miss Corinna... I hope you are here to donate to the efforts at the Astorian border. I do have to warn you that, due to the charitable nature of these sales, our prices are nearly doubled." He didn't bother hiding the fact that he doubted she could afford a bottle of liquor, or even any of the Lounge's custom Queendom matriotic merch.
Despite it all, the Standing Stones still worked well enough, so Corinna made sure to take time away from Haven in small increments. The Kossith were still a few days away, so there was no use stressing about the upcoming clash. Furthermore, as much as she had committed to help in Haven, she still needed to keep her relationship with her fans steady for after the whole mess was resolved. It would just not do if she lost most of her financial support because she was off gallivanting about being a hero or something of the sort. After all, people loved heroes, so why not use her sudden commitment to a good cause for her benefit? Asking for donations for both her own debts and to supply Haven with more supplies like health potions and the like. With the amount of big ass Kossith coming, they would need all the healing they could get. Especially since the Tower wasn’t sending any healers their way. And Corinna wasn’t about to die a heroic dead when she could just scam people out of money to buy a batch of healing potions for the bunch.
Her current trip into Eterna was meant to go by quickly, slip into a series of bars, stir the enthusiasm about the prospect of glory in combat to attract mercenary’s, about the piety of helping the Haven pack to attract donors, and of course, about her own bravery to get something for herself. And the planned part of the trip did go rather fast, but as she was walking back to the Standing Stone, a peculiar sight drew the eye. Was that Lucilius? Doing something kind?
Well, she never.
“I would, oh so surely, my fellow bard, if I hadn’t already committed resources to the fight in Haven,” she sighed dramatically, raising a hand to her forehead in feigned sadness, even as she narrowed her eyes at the dhampir’s implied insult. “As it is, my time and attention are focused stopping the dastardly Kossith.”
who? @seriswyn where? Near the Hole in the Wall, Haven when? Post the Storm Approaches
Having decided to stay in Haven meant she decided to be useful. A total nightmare for someone like her, who prefers very much to lounge around between fights. It’s a chore above all else, but her talk with Julian had convinced her to stay and she was not one to half-ass her shenanigans. Her commitment to her shenanigans didn’t stop her from getting a little drinky drink, however, so after she had wandered around a bit to get a better sense of the town for combat purposes and to try and cheer some of the people wandering around gloomily up, Corinna immediately turned around and made to zoom towards the pub. Unfortunately for herself, she noticed a stranger struggling to carry all the boxes she needed and some sense of empathy drove her to help. Ugh.
“Need a hand with those?” She asks before anything, part of her hoping the other would say no, while the other one was urging her to commit to helping. For once in her life, it wasn’t about choosing the most fun choice, but the one that would keep her alive the longest. In this case, it meant helping the rest of Haven prepare for battle. Ugh. There goes her drink. “I am sure with the two of us we can be done in a lickidy split!”

who? @juliangladiator where? Haven when? Post the Storm Approaches
Between the darkspawn and the Kossith, Corinna must admit she would rather face the Kossith. In the end, they are both a threat to her overall safety and quality of life, but well. If the darkspawn spread beyond the borders of Astoria, everyone is just kind of going to die. If the Kossith take Haven though? They would capture everyone there, even the people she is particularly fond of, and they could extend their march to Eterna and maybe even capture her. From the few rumors she had heard of what is happening with the captured? Oh, hell no. She prefers the darkspawn, thank you. Still, she is not sure if she wants to commit to the whole “fighting” bit.
That reasoning is why she finds herself in Haven, curiously looking around and wondering what the fuck is going on. Corinna perks up considerably when she finally finds the golden retriever she has been looking for and skips forward to meet the man.
“Julian! There you are.” He had mentioned earlier that he had moved to Haven, so at the very least he probably has more information on what is happening. Right? “I have been looking for you.”

who? @jovethebarbarian where? Mercury’s Bazaar, Lysara when? Day 1 of Progress Day
“Hey you!” Corinna calls out as she avoids another couple and hurries to catch the tall ass man that she has been following for a few blocks. “Tall blondie with the pecs of a marble statue! Stop!” She keeps calling until she huffs in frustration and teleports over the crowd and right before him. Hands on her hips, she glares up at him. “Hey, I am talking to you man. I know I am short as fuck, and you are as tall as a mountain, but-. Where was I going with that metaphor?” She asks herself before shaking her head and pointing at him. “Anyways! You. Have you thought of being a gladiator?”
He definitely had the tits for it, and Corinna is pretty sure she can get a recruitment fee out of it if she can convince him. Hopefully.
who? @conanindebt Where? Stumble Inn When? Day 2 of Progress Day
“Any good gigs come your way lately? And would any of them splurge for gladiator entertainment?” She asks for asking’s sake, but frankly, she doesn’t expect a positive answer out of Conan. They are comrade-at-debt, and in that sort of situation it’s every man scrambling for the coin needed not to get their wig snatched by their debtors. Nero’s idea had given her something to look forward to money-wise, but the hustle never stopped. “Or if not, anything fun happening in your life? I am bored and want to be entertained.”
