Sims In Bloom: Rest In Peace Neal Nesbitt
Above the cut is a retroactive Gen 1 banner that I haven't had a chance to use yet. Sadly, as the save mourns the loss of Gen 1's dog-loving outdoorsman and founding spouse, Neal, now is as good a time as any to share it.
Under the cut is pure nostalgia with captions, no sad plot: Neal's life (from YA on) in pictures, and a retrospective trip through his life after he met the woman of his dreams and started a big, loving family.
In loving memory of Neal Sims Nesbitt (yes his middle name was Sims, I'm a very creative Watcher!), who met his future wife, Daisy, on Day 1 of the Sims In Bloom save file.
He was a dog loving loner who loved the outdoors. He lived alone in Cordelia Cottage with his Old English Sheepdog, Ralph, having lost both parents a few years earlier. I found him on the Gallery via his loves the outdoors trait, because Founder Daisy had to marry someone with it.
When Neal met Daisy they quickly fell in love, and within a few months of dating he'd moved in. A few months after that, the couple was expecting their first child, and they eloped in a shotgun wedding at a chapel in Oasis Springs before daughter Heather was born.
Neal's infamous meat wall at home in Henford, where the first crop of Nesbeets All Natural Beet Meat was grown and turned by wife Daisy into a beloved recipe - Nesbeets Wellington!
Neal teaching his third child, and only son, River, to ride a bike on the empty lot across from the Nesbitt home.
On the way home from one of many family vacations in Granite Falls, Neal and Daisy renewed their wedding vows at the same chapel in Oasis Spring where they'd wed a decade and a half earlier.
As a lover of the outdoors, Neal often helped his astrobotanist wife, Daisy, with the family's magnificent garden - and took special interest in assisting with her oversized crops, like this watermelon.
Neal and Daisy's first Halloween as a rebel pilot and Princess Leia.
While helping his wife track down a UFO plant, Neal ran into someone he thought he'd never see again - his older brother, Karl, who left home at 18 (when Neal was 10) and never returned.
With decades behind them and their parents long gone, Neal and Karl reconnected, and his loving family totally embraced their long lost Uncle Karl.
Neal and his wife, Daisy, with his Old English Sheepdog, Ralph, who lived until their four kids were teenagers. Ralph was just the first of many pets the Nesbitts' would love and care for, and their generational compassion for animals no doubt came from dog-loving patriarch Neal.
Still head over heels in love at middle age, Neal and his wife, Daisy, spent a romantic Love Day together at the Gnomes Arms.
Neal and Daisy became first-time grandparents to Heather's son, Ash, while Daisy was a PlantSim (for over a year due to a botany experiment gone wrong).
Daisy's leafy fauxhawk and green skin wasn't Neal's favourite look, but he loved her, anyway.
When Daisy's PlantSim status was finally cheated away by the Watcher, Neal and Daisy embraced their greys and growing wrinkles with grace.
Neal was always there for his kids, even well into adulthood. He was instrumental in helping his daughter, Heather, create Buttercups All-Natural Pet Food & Treats, which helped the independent vet raise enough money to eventually buy out the Landgraabs and take full control of her clinic.
He was also a voice of support, and reason, when Heather got caught hacking Landgraab Systems (they stole her app code first!) and was forced to share custody with Malcolm Landgraab, her son's father.
Ash was the first grandchild of many, and the whole family celebrated at least one Father's Day together in picture-perfect Granite Falls, Outdoor Enthusiast Neal's favourite place in all of Simlandia.
After Daisy retired as an astrobotanist and switched to running a florist business from their home in Finchwick, Henford, she and Neal could often be found outside together on sunny days. Daisy would prepare her floral arrangements and Neal would work on some project or another on his old reclaimed wood workbench.
They enjoyed spending time together in the great outdoors, even if Neal also worked long hours with Nesbeets. (He was an Eco-Innovator who maxed the Green Technician branch of the Civil Designer career.)
Neal and Daisy loved spending time with their eleven grandkids, and Gen 3 heir Lavender Gordon cherished their summer chasing whispers on the wind in Henford's Isle of Volpe Park and beyond (like the mystical Sylvan Glade and the Forgotten Grotto).
Lavender also learned a lot about recycling and fabrication from her grandpa Neal, with her loner and recycle disciple traits being challenge-specific but also, as a matter of plot, inherited from her beloved grandpa.
Following a long and successful career, hardworking Neal finally listened to wife Daisy and slowed down. His son, River, put together a business plan and made his case, with an impressed Neal handing him the reins of his company, Nesbeets, upon his retirement.
Neal and Daisy's love never faded as they enjoyed their twilight years together, dressing up as firefighters for their first Spooky Day together post-retirement.
Life (and death) must go on in any family legacy, and Neal was with his loved ones when his elder brother, Karl, passed away.
The funeral was held at Goth Mansion in Willow Creek, where Karl lived with his husband and soulmate, Mortimer Goth.
Neal and his family posed for an updated family portrait at the wedding of his eldest grandson, Ash, to his longtime girlfriend, Pearl Richards, at Myshuno Meadows.
It would turn out to be Neal's last major family event before he passed away.
Rest in peace to this legacy's co-founding father and grandfather, Neal Nesbitt. ๐ ->
