hii. i'm so sorry it took me so long to answer!! 😭 i totally missed it, but looking at the bright side, i can now share some facts about Matilda, so i'm gonna take it as a good thing

ok. some random facts about my girl because i feel i haven't told you much about her (and again, sorry in advance, u probably know by now i love to yap)

1 ✶ she has sweets hidden all over the house. she has T1D, so she likes to keep something nearby in case her blood sugar drops... which is why there's also a jar of peanut butter on her nightstand. she gets VERY mad if anyone eats any of her emergency snacks because what if she needs them??? (she almost never does and half of them are probably expired, but that's not the point)

2 ✶ having T1D since she was little forced her to be responsible pretty early. she was a stubborn teenager and definitely didn't always do what she was told, but she never did anything that could seriously worry Doris. her brother was pretty much the opposite –he did what he wanted and worried about the consequences later– and it was one of the things that slowly pushed them apart

3 ✶ she likes computers and videogames but she's terrible at them and gets frustrated very quickly. it doesn't help that she's also a horrible loser. like, genuinely horrible. Colt still owes her a rematch and she will not let that go until she wins

4 ✶ she's really good at fixing things around the house. Taye always insists on doing it himself first and somehow she always ends up having to fix his fix. she grew up on a farm with her grandma and little brother, someone had to learn how to keep things working and apparently that someone was her

5 ✶ she LOVES terrible reality tv. no shame, no pretending she's watching it ironically, she genuinely loves it. Taye is the one who spends the whole time criticizing everyone and everything... while still sitting there watching every episode with her

6 ✶ she's a terrible liar. her ears go bright red and she starts playing with the ring on her necklace (that, btw, used to be he father's wedding ring, and the necklace belonged to her mother). Taye catches her every single time. thankfully, she doesn't lie much

7 ✶ Taye wasn't love at first sight. with Colt, she had a crush before she even knew him; with Taye, it was the other way around. he noticed her first, and she got to know him slowly –someone sweet and patient who listened to her and was simply there when she needed him. and somewhere along the way, she fell for him too

8 ✶ she's pretty happy with her body, but she's spent most of her life hearing from endocrinologists that she should lose weight. she doesn't really believe there's anything wrong with her body, but when you hear something enough times, some of it sticks

9 ✶ she can't drive. she never learned and, if she can avoid getting into anything with a motor, she will. losing her parents in a car accident probably didn't help, and she's perfectly happy letting everyone else drive her around

10 ✶ when she first moved to Chestnut Ridge, she spent an embarrassing amount of time having a slice of cheese and a bottle of milk for breakfast. it's honestly a miracle she didn't become lactose intolerant with the amount of dairy she was having
