Chapter One
You met them at the same time.
At a block party after your college women’s soccer team won the semi finals. You’d only gone to the party -and the game for that matter- because you promised your friend you would try to do more fun things this semester.
You tended to be more academically inclined, and not very adventurous. But even you were willing to admit you wanted to see a bit more of the world. Take a risk, let yourself be in the moment without overthinking every little decision you made. And so in the spirit of your first real attempt at being carefree, you let your friend put you in a sexy pink dress to go out in.
“Girl, you look hot! That body is gonna get you in trouble.” Your friend hyped you up as you looked over yourself in the mirror.
For once you didn’t argue. The way the fabric hugged your hips and showed off your body made you feel a bit bolder. You wanted to make yourself known tonight. Surely in a room full of female soccer players you could find at least one lesbian to flirt with, or maybe even more if you were lucky.
Little did you know you’d get much more than you bargained for.
There were more people here than you’d realized.
The music poured out from the open windows into the street. A huge crowd of people moving and dancing outside the house. You held your friend’s hand a little tighter.
“You’re gonna have a great time.” She shouted by your ear over the noise.
“If I don’t you owe me ramen after this.” You replied.
“Done.” You giggled together, making your way through the mass of bodies.
The inside of the house was warmer, small groups of people sitting around tables talking. You notice various drugs on the table being passed around and try not to stare. You weren’t judging, but it was hard not to feel overwhelmed by the newness of the situation. A drink was being put in your hand, forcing you to turn your gaze away. You sniffed the contents of the red solo cup cautiously.
“Rum and coke oldie.” Your friend teased.
“You know me so well.”
The first sip does a lot to calm your nerves. You drop your shoulders, moving to the music as you scan the room with curiosity. Your eyes sweep the space, searching for recognition when you meet a pair of eyes that are already fixed on you. The blue of her gaze is bright but carefully controlled as she looks at you. Her blond hair loose instead of braided down like it had been yesterday.
Abby Anderson was staring at you.
And apparently being caught did nothing to deter her as her eyes moved down your body. Your face goes hot, hands suddenly itching to adjust your dress.
You take another sip of your drink, needing to do something with your hands. Before either of you could do anything else, another person comes to stand beside Abby. One long, toned arm thrown over her shoulder. Green eyes follow Abby’s line of sight and find you.
Ellie Williams. You remembered her for ‘accidentally’ elbowing a girl in the face during the game.
Now they were both staring.
Oh shit
Ellie was more expressive than Abby, interest showing in the way her eyebrows raised as she looked you over. Her gaze lingered a little too long on your cleavage, a small smile curled her lips when she got to your legs. The heat in your body instantly doubled. The moment seemed to go on forever, the three of you trapped inside the intensity of their want and your uncertainty.
“You okay?” Your friend’s voice shocked you, snapping your head in her direction.
“Huh? Yeah, all good.”
You tried to keep the excitement from showing on your face. It had been forever since your last relationship and by extension, forever since you’d gotten laid. Even if nothing really happened tonight, it was nice to know you could turn the heads of not one but two lesbian hotties.
“You sure?” Your friend eyed you playfully.
“Definitely.” You take her hand and move toward the backyard where you spotted a group of people dancing.
You’re surprised by how effortlessly you melt into the crowd, hips swinging with confidence as you dance. Your friend holds your waist and mimics grinding into your ass, so you bend over and give her a show. Once you straighten she screams over the music.
“Yes bitch! That’s what the fuck I’m talking about!”
You beam at her, genuinely having a great time. The two of you are lost in your own little world as song after song keeps you hyped and on your feet. Eventually your cup is emptied and you decide to go back inside for a refresh. You find the liquor in the kitchen and pour yourself a generous amount.
“Nice moves.”
You turn around to see Abby leaning against the kitchen island, large forearms supporting her upper body. You blink, smiling.
“Thank you. I could say the same to you actually.”
“Doubtful. I don’t dance.” She smirks.
“I mean yesterday. I was at your game. You’ve got some impressive moves. Not that I know anything about soccer but it’s pretty obvious you know what you’re doing.” You force yourself to stop talking. You tend to ramble when you’re nervous and you really don’t want to make a fool of yourself in front of this woman.
“You’d be right about that princess.”
Your brain short circuits.
Abby can tell, laughing at what must be a stunned look on your face.
“So, um, h-how long have you been playing?” You ask, after taking a second to reboot.
“Since I was five. It’s great exercise and I love the competition.” She looks down at your lips for a split second. “Honestly, I love winning.”
And that was the moment Ellie decided to walk into the kitchen from behind you.
“Hey pretty lady.” You turn, flushing again as her gaze takes you in. “I have to say, that dress looks incredible on you.”
Abby scoffs behind you. “Subtle Ellie.”
“Don’t think I was talkin’ to you Anderson.”
Ellie doesn’t even look at her when she speaks, eyes still on your face. You feel strangely caught up in something equal parts dangerous and irresistible. The two women stay quiet, waiting for you to respond to Ellie’s comments.
“Um, thanks.” You choke out a dry laugh. “It’s actually my friend’s dress, she let me borrow it.”
“Well it was made for you honey.” Ellie takes a step toward you with an easy smile and holds out her hand. You take it, slowly, still stunned by the attention. Once Ellie has your hand she raises it and turns you, making the skirt part of your dress flutter as you spin.
Abby sighs behind you. “We were actually in the middle of a conversation.”
Ellie shrugs one shoulder, “Mind if I join?”
You open and close your mouth like a fish, looking between both women.
Abby nods at you, indicating that the choice was yours. You took a long sip of your drink.
“I guess that would be cool. We were just talking about the game last night.”
“You were there?” Ellie looks genuinely pleased.
“Oh yeah. I hope that girls nose is okay.” You laughed. Ellie rolled her eyes.
“Whatever, it wasn’t even that bad.”
“Ellie has a bad habit of getting really violent when she plays.” Abby rounded the island to stand next to you, thick biceps folding across her chest.
“Don’t say shit like that. You’re making me sound like a maniac.”
“That’s because you are.”
“Sorry we aren’t all as militant as you Captain. But let’s be honest, when shit gets real you want me on your team.”
You glanced at Abby, seeing the way she quietly gave Ellie a look of agreement. Then she looked back at you.
“Ellie can be a little volatile, but we all can to be fair. But, not everyone is cut out for leadership.” She winked at you. She fought back the urge to giggle.
“Yeah yeah” Ellie muttered, walking to stand on your other side.
“Well I think you both were amazing. It was incredible, really. I haven’t followed sports much but it was fun watching you guys.”
You look between them as you speak, grinning and trying not to faint as they both crowded around you.
“Do you wanna dance?”
“What classes are you taking?”
Both voices asked at the same time. You laughed.
“Uh-”
“There you are, I was getting worried that you’d gotten roofied or something.” Your friend came into the room, looking like she was scared half to death.
“Oh shit, yeah. I’m sorry! I was here getting my drink and I started chatting. This is Ellie and Abby, guys this is my best friend.”
“Hey.” Ellie greeted.
“Nice to meet you.” Abby gave a small nod.
“Yeah, same here. I hate to break up the party but I’m gonna steal my girl back.”
You took her hand, turning as you left to wave goodbye.
“It was great talking to you guys. Good luck at the finals next week.”
“I’ll save you a seat gorgeous.” Ellie gave you a mock salute, which Abby swatted down with a scowl.
You laughed as the pair began bickering, making your way back to the dance floor.
“Can I ask what the hell is going on between you three?” Your friend asks as you walk away from the kitchen.
“I think they both wanna fuck me.”
The two of you burst out laughing. Alcohol and adrenaline making you feel loose and bubbly.
“Holy shit. Good luck choosing between the two of them, goddamn.”
You shook your head. That would be a hard decision. But as you looked back at the house, you thought that maybe you wouldn’t have to choose at all.
