I knew them before I knew KinKi Kids. That was a long time ago. Almost 15 years back and I was so young back then XD. SMAP introduced me to Jpop world. And I became addicted to them. I listen to their songs almost everyday, I watch their concert and their shows almost everyday..but its so hard since Jpop was very protected back then. Its not easy to get any of their files, I can only watch them from dailymotion, the only streaming site that I can call it safe since Johnny’s really control all of their idols, you can’t ever find any clips of Johnny’s artiste on any streaming page, not even youtube. Well, there were fans who managed to upload some of their files, but its only lasts for couple of days before ‘someone’ managed to get track of that and ‘clean’ it. Oh, that was a long time ago. And that was a few reason why Jpop is so different, so special from any other entertainment industry in Asia. 

SMAP was so huge. Back then, even now. You walk at any other place in Japan and mention SMAP, everybody knew them. Even at the smallest town.From the youngest to oldest, SMAP was a living legend. You can either like them or hate them, but you can never deny the power of unity that SMAP had created. There were will be more of younger idols born after them, but no one can become SMAP. No one. Not other group. No matter how large popularity Arashi bring on, no matter how good HSJ are, no matter how many albums Kattun managed to sold, they can never be SMAP.

If you ever goes to their concert (I haven’t and I don’t know if my dream will come true someday), you can see, how beautiful their fans are. Not only girls, but you can see man from different age, even there were fathers with their younger children, mothers with babies, grandma, grandpa..all of people from any place of Japan, they were there because of SMAP. And that makes us wonder, why is SMAP so special? so different?

Because SMAP unite Japan. SMAP means unity.

Shirushi (Mr. Children) cover by Domoto Tsuyoshi. I like the original song by Mr Children, but somehow when Tsuyoshi covers it, I like his version more. I’ve even ripped it and put it in my phone. And guys, do you remember 14-sai no Haha (14 year old Mother)? I love that drama so much! Can’t believe it was 10 years ago. Somehow I feel older now XD
