sure I didn’t do any writing here today but I DID watch another episode of doctor who so I’ll call that a win

ok wow this is going to be so embarrassing for me but I was playing botw last night and then I started thinking about zelda and buffy and how they are? very similar in a lot of aspects? one of the major things I see is how both of them have a destiny forced upon them. zelda wants to read and study ruins and explore, but she’s forced to pray and practice so that she may unlock her sealing powers and use it to defend the kingdom against calamity ganon. buffy on the other hands wants to be a normal girl who shops and dates and goes to school, but a lot of that is put on hold because she has to constantly defend everyone against the forces of evil. both are extremely disheartened by their prophecies and the fact that it limits them from doing what they want to do. they seem to have no other future in sight besides what is required of them. both of them also deal with extreme amounts of guilt as well as feelings of inadequacy. zelda sees her kingdom laid to waste because of what she believes to be her inability to protect it, and so she basically sacrifices herself in order to contain ganon. in s5 buffy has to deal with the fact that despite all of her efforts, dawn is still captured by glory, which ends up with her sacrificing herself in dawn’s place. their guilt leads them both to performing pricey actions in an attempt to atone for their mistakes.
