Check your manuscript BEFORE submission
These authors did not check their supplemental data section carefully- or at all. This is really not a very funny example since it’s incriminating, though someone pointed out that the phrase “just make up an elemental analysis” could mean “just perform an elemental analysis” to include here- depending on the author’s nationality and/or first language. Still. Ugh.
OH THE JOYS OF EDITING PAPERS!
Dear editor- you unscrupulous, depraved monster
"Enclosed … is our re-re-re-revised revision of our paper. Choke on it." Admit it, we’ve all wanted to send in a letter like this- maybe just about every time we submit a revision. This anonymous author did- though I think it may be a bit tongue-in-cheek. You think?
The full, and bitingly funny, text of the letter is here.

Cat got your tongue? Frog in the throat? Fish maybe? Ahhh yes, that’s it.

Sketchy lab practice, as expressed honestly by Overly Honest Methods. No one’s perfect.
Today’s easter egg comes courtesy of a perfectly reasonable acronym being employed that just happens to be a pretty offensive word in English. This is actually a pretty understandable error by these non-English speakers (I’m assuming) publishing in a Chinese journal.
They are also in pretty good...
Some beautiful soul has beat me to the scientific easter eggs! Wonderful work!
