Had my ācongrats! youāre 45 so hereās a colonoscopyā appointment today, and i have a literal doctorās note ordering me to take today easy, no work, etc⦠which Iāve been doing since lunch, and my dogs are big fans. So much backyard fetch with regular naps. (No cancer is also nice, but Iām just stoked to hang out with these gorgeous idiots.)

Hello. I hope your surgery goes well and your life is improved after this ... I know this might be uncomfortable to write about, but are there any symptoms to look out for? I'm entering my 30s this year and I've been quite worried about some things I've been dealing with. Some pain in my lower right torso, constant ongoing diarrhea, thin stool. If this bothers you, you can completely ignore me.
Hello! I have no problem at all answering your question, thanks for reaching out! Though I do want to preface this by stating Iāve got absolutely no medical knowledge beyond my own issues.
In my case, I had virtually no symptoms: no pain, no soreness, no blood in stool, etc. My mass was discovered in my very first colonoscopy, go figure, which I had at the recommended age of 45. I did have thin and loose stools for a full year prior, which I chalked up to diet and tried making changes there. In retrospect, I should have been more concerned and asked my doctor to look into it more. But with no other symptoms, Iād never have imagined it could turn out like this.
Do you know your family medical history and if thereās a prevalence of colon cancer? Even if you donāt, Iād recommend consulting your doctor about the symptoms you described. Thereās no reason why you canāt have a colonoscopy done at age 30, barring financial or insurance reasons.
Good luck to you, my friend! And please donāt hesitate to ask me questions or even just chat. Thatās what this space is for. š«
