watched the episode and wow .. the nasty anti black racist remarks being leveled at louis are absolutely insane knowing that there are no black people in the writers room

this episode did have me feeling really bad for lestat, like when he threw up after louis questioned him too hard about his mother </3

the episode is still not as good as the previous two seasons but still miles ahead of most of the other episodes of season 3. crazy how when you get the main couple and main characters interacting how much better the show flows, instead of irrelevant people in lestat’s entourage. who would have thunk it

still have mixed feelings overall.

#not sure if it’s said to louis #i just opened twitter saw the spoiler and exited out #what is with amc and not having consistent release times #i’m sure it’s not going to be out on amazon prime until 4:30 tomorrow afternoon #back to the main topic it’s crazy how racist and anti black this show is #like .. i didn’t realise that ‘woke’ white people still had the audacity to write things like a black man being called a bucket of fried #chicken #plus the fandom is just a cesspit of white supremacists #tvl

#i’ve always suspected this of my dad but it’s good to finally have confirmation

season 3 of interview with the vampire is so strange regarding depicting queerness. it seems like the only displays of same sex intimacy allowed are kisses between women for the viewing pleasure of a man (lestat) and intimacy between men must be either 1. told not shown or 2. shrouded in darkness for like 3 seconds with choppy editing so you could blink and miss it. that and the misgendering “joke” in episode one and turning gabrielle into some femme fatale does not bode well.

i actually like how intimacy and sex was portrayed in seasons 1 and 2 because i’m usually not one for very graphic sex scenes (à la heated rivalry) but when i was watching these seasons for the first time it felt like a choice, both stylistically on the part of the show runners and writers and also logically for the internal narrative of louis recalling his life in interview so imagine my surprise when we get 2 sex scenes between gabrielle and random men that are way more graphic than anything else depicted so far (thrusting depicted, ludicrous moaning). it’s hard not to compare and come to the conclusion that the show was probably capable of doing something like this the whole time but has reserved it for when they could ensure what they were depicting was heterosexual.

#i don’t care that lestat is bisexual and that should be adequate queer representation #he is not an autonomous human being he is a character with writers who get to decide what to depict #so yes i think it’s weird and homophobic that his trysts with men are not displayed in nearly as much detail and his trysts with women #i also don’t buy the excuse that gabi’s actions to provoke lestat need to be more graphic to like hammer home how fucked up it is #they could have choreographed and shot those sex scenes in a completely different way and it would have still had the desired effect on the #audience and for the narrative #i don’t want to be keeping tallies but i just think if you’re going to be depicting heterosexual sex in the queer vampire show #it should also be balanced out with same sex intimacy too #and we know this is a problem because one of the show runners said they had to sneak in a man into the elevator orgy in episode one because #otherwise it would have been cut from the scripts by the network #it’s just strange that this network decided to pursue an adaptation of a book series where generally the characters are gay but can’t use #their dicks #deliberately go out of their way to change it so they can #and then decide to try and tone down the queerness depicted #like #it was your choice to green light this adaptation change #you didn’t have to do that it you wanted plausible deniability #i haven’t seen the new episode yet so i may end up deleting this if that proves me wrong #but yeah we’re coming to the end of the season and it’s not looking good #i do not care for loustat #lestat is an irritating character and i want louis to stay away #also i’m kind of over characters being hallucinated #it worked somewhat in season 2 to make loumand’s scenes more dynamic and also i recognise they wanted to keep sam reid in the show #but for season 3 i wish we saw more of these characters and their relationships when they were alive #rather than being lestat’s muses #idk #that’s why i’m happy with the choice they made for delainey to keep her in the show #if we were going in season 3 with ghost claudia i would have been so over it

i watched this documentary on amazon prime about some finnish girls who went to a remote mining town in western australia to work as bar maids and let me tell you, the misogyny is off the charts but it was so fucking funny hearing these miners complaining about how their ex girlfriends would abort “their” babies (multiple times), take all their assets in the break up, cheat on them with all their friends and bosses, and refuse to let them see their kids. i want to tip my hat to these queens. second of all it made me understand why islam prohibits alcohol consumption
