So, I’m sure most of you have seen that article screencap, if not read the actual article about the rise of Catholic ‘exorcisms’ in the US in recent years.

And I was scrolling through my Twitter feed and caught the comment from an ‘alt-right’ Catholic who said something along the lines of:

“It’s a shame that these pagans and witches are messing with forces they don’t understand.” 

And it actually made me laugh, because…

We’ve been talking to the Gods for literal millennia before you came along.

We knew the secret names of the divine before yours ever revealed himself.

We found sanctuary in sacred groves ages before you built churches.

Our Gods protected and guided us for centuries before you created ‘saving’ us.

Our ways were ancient before yours was even born.

Understand?

Bitch, understanding is our middle name.

We’re polytheists.

We’re Pagans.

If I worshiped no deity other than Anubis and taught my children the same, after several generations, it would appear that we had always been monotheists. 

The Jewish take on idolatry would be a neat example if polytheists actually worshipped man-made items, except that in the polytheistic religions which survived to modern day and in reconstructionist polytheism, our statues are always meant to be visualization aids. Even the Egyptians, had to perform a complex ceremony for a God to inhabit a statue, and that would be possession of the man-made object with the essence of the divine, not worship of the man-made object for its own sake.

Your term ‘pagan doctrine’ makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. We don’t have any texts that are considered ‘sacred’ such that they cannot be disputed. We don’t hold the Odyssey to the same level as the bible.

Paganism is allowed to be silent on why there is evil in the world, because we don’t attach omnibenevolence to our Gods. Evil is only a problem when a God claims to be all-powerful, all-loving, all-good, and still sets up events to allow evil. We live and we die because that’s what life does, not because it’s part of some ‘master plan’. We feel pain and suffer because we can feel pleasure and be joyous and the system built into our bodies for pain is sometimes abused by humans or a fault in the creation of our bodies, but again, that is part of dying. When people are born with a genetic inability to feel pain, they hurt themselves and frequently die young. 

Further, we don’t believe in superlative deities. The Gods have power greater than humans can comprehend, but that doesn’t make it infinite. If Jupiter was omnipotent, He would have no reason for the other Gods. If we created the idea of his power infinite, we would have no reason to worship other Gods, and monolatrism would form, over time, it would lead to monotheism. 

For instance, why couldn't I (INDIVIDUALLY)assume the idea that there are Others self serving Selfish entities, who seek to rob the Almighty God's right to be worshipped or bowed down or maybe robbed humans of knowledge of how to gain favor from that ultimate blessings? Isn't this evil? Deceiving people so that they do not know the truth, misleading them to think everything is well? You mean to say that everyone, all angels and humans are really good creatures, with no selfish pride hate streaks inside?

And saying God is evil because He allows evil to prevail. You would say that, seeing evil men having their ways on others. But if I were to look at a different perspective as in the God who believes in free will and are willing to play by their(evil men)rules in order to trap them by their own snares, why not God would do that? From a God who is able to resurrect the dead, it's so much more fun to see them(the evil men) day by day, slowly tightening the noose of their hanging rope themselves.

As for young prematured deaths, you go by the perspective that they are unfair. But, on what grounds can you say that God is unfair? You only see the present and what that is presented to you only. Did the mothers tried abortion? Did somebody try to poison or were they insistence on rebelling their parents' advice? Are others not responsible?? Did you see and known the unseen, the future of what God will do? If you don't know the true story or the heart's intentions, you cannot just criticize God for it.
