So, i think most brazilians associate Tumblr with the aesthetics Tumblr-girl era and not the fandom, because brazilian fandom never really took off here. Before twitter we were on forums or Orkut (a social network i think never existed outside of brazil??)(never mind i googled it, and apparently it did exist but only Brazil and India used it lol). Tumblr is usually referenced here as a place of sad, alternative teen girls in my experience.

now, of course there ARE a lot of us that use/used tumblr for fandom (or at least knows about it), but for some weird reason tumblr is still considered either dead or only used for discourse/ship wars. I think this is really funny because as someone who uses both tumblr and twitter, this DEFINITELY describes twitter better.

But, and i think that's the most important thing here, is that most brazilians just see tumblr as harder to get notes on. twitter (and now Bluesky) allows for art to go beyond the following bubble a LOT faster and this makes it financially better.

But really Its unfortunate tumblr will never feel safe for a nsft artist again.... people forget too many fandom artists got kicked out of here, i personally am very bitter abt tumblr

im keeping an account here, but i barely check tumblr anymore, it just doesnt feel the same
