She had thick skin though and was perfectly capable of ignoring any negativity that was thrown her way. "Right? It would be a crime against fashion for no-one to see this again." She agreed, twirling the bottom of her skirt around. Whilst she probably could afford to only wear outfits once, she looked too good in them for that to be the case. "I guess you could re-wear yours to children's parties, hire yourself out as the entertainment..." She added jokingly.

"Oh, I know. I've always been on that side of things too. People aren't crazy about bluntness but I'm not a liar. I'd rather someone be straight up with me than try and sugarcoat things. Even when it's something you don't wanna hear." Puck let out a short laugh, shaking his head at her joke. “Yeah, okay, I could probably rock the kids party circuit… but I don't see that happening unless my business suddenly goes under and I'm desperate. I own a pool cleaning business but for like the rich and celebs and shit. Guess I could hire someone to wear this thing and stand on the streets with business signs. I mean, turtles swim so it kinda works."

"Hold back? Why would I hold back?" Sugar asked. Sexuality crises aside, she had never been one to edit herself, she usually said whatever came to mind without giving it much of a second thought. She liked to think of herself as just straight talking, but the word 'bitch' had also been used before. At least she'd stopped telling everyone she had Aspergers as a reason for her truth-telling. Now she just owned it. "If people have a problem with me then that's their issue, not mine. I'm not holding myself back for anyone." She added with a shrug of her shoulders. "Plastic is pretty on theme for LA, I'll give you that." She joked, looking around at the sea of lip filler and Botox around them.

Puck shook his head with a grin, leaning back just enough to keep it casual. “It was a compliment. You say what you mean, people can deal with it. It’s honestly kind of nice seeing someone cut through all the fake around here for once.” He waved vaguely at the crowd, full of influencers and over-the-top costumes. “I mean, look at this place — you're not wrong. Good on you for wearing something more than once. I feel like most people with money are one and done with their outfits. Points for effort, seriously.” He glanced down at his own costume and chuckled. “Of course, how I would ever re-use what I'm wearing, I have no idea.”

"Although for the record, the Louvre thing wasn't me, I just robbed my closet instead." She looked around as he spoke, nodding in agreement as he compared her dress value to the rest of the party. This was a semi-celebrity event so it was high praise and probably not all that accurate. Though accuracy had yet to bother her when it came to accepting praise from admiring fans. "Ah yes, voting for your boyfriend so you can get laid tonight, that makes sense." She commented, trying to fake it as always with the sexual comments. Sugar had wanted to call the man lame for voting for his boyfriend automatically before remembering she was wearing a wedding ring and people would expect her to vote for Sebastian in this situation. "Okay firstly, you can get more manly than a superhero. Secondly, are you even really a superhero? Isn't Buzz just a plastic toy?"

Puck let out a low whistle, clearly entertained. “You don’t hold back, do you?” he said with a laugh, shaking his head. “Yeah, Buzz is technically a toy, but he’s also the toy who saves the galaxy. Plastic or not, that’s still more heroic than half the people here.” He leaned in a little, playful glint in his eyes. “Damn, that came from your closet? You look like you just stepped out of a Vogue spread. Are you a model or heiress or something? If I were voting on who wore their costume best, you’d still rank pretty high — right after my boyfriend, of course. And no, it's not just to get laid. I just think he looks the best.. But maybe I'm also really, really biased. But I guess that makes us even; me pretending to be a superhero, and you pretending that wasn’t a total flex.”

Puck paused mid-bite of a deviled egg, giving her costume a look — tiara, gown, diamonds that probably cost more than his truck. “Damn. You look like you robbed a museum on the way here.” He leaned in a little, voice dropping into a teasing gravel. “And yeah, expensive definitely counts as a skill. I’m pretty sure your dress costs more than this entire party.” He tapped the plastic Buzz Lightyear chest plate he was wearing. “But I gotta be honest with you; if there’s a Best Costume award, I’m voting for my boyfriend first. However — I will put your name down for second place. And that’s only because bribing a judge is probably beneath you.” Puck smirked. “Hey, my costume is more than cute. It's… a classic. And manly. You can't get much more manly than a superhero.” He flexed one arm like an idiot, wings on his back wobbling. “To infinity and beyond.”

“an ambulance?” finn’s eyes widened, and he almost glanced at the heart-rate monitor because he was pretty sure his had just spiked. “do you know how much those cost, babe? one of the staff could’ve just driven me here, and-” he cut himself off. he didn’t want to give puck the ick by talking about money. he could deal with his worries later. “you don’t have to pay, it’s fine. i’ll figure it out,” he said with a sigh, though he wasn’t sure he would. still, he didn’t want to take advantage of his boyfriend or do anything that might jeopardize what they had. people always said money made things messy, and things were too perfect with puck to risk that. he tried to fight the smile tugging at his mouth, but it was impossible. “they are?” he looked toward the door as if he could see them, then back at puck. “that’s awesome. could you tell them i’m okay, then, babe? they should probably go home. and i bet the hospital staff really hates us right now if there’s a bunch of teenagers in their waiting room.”

Puck leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to Finn’s temple, his thumb brushing over his cheek. “Babe. Breathe,” he murmured, voice low and steady. “You literally almost passed out in front of a bunch of teenagers. No one was gonna toss you into the back of someone’s Subaru and hope for the best.” He gave Finn a look — that mix of affection and stubbornness he only saved for him. “And don’t stress about the ambulance bill. Seriously. If it comes in and it’s ridiculous? I’ll handle it. You’re not taking advantage of me, you’re letting me take care of you. There’s a difference.” He shifted a little on the bed, fingers dragging gently through Finn’s hair again. “Yeah, half the waiting room is full of overly emotional teens armed with vending machine snacks and opinions.” He leaned back just enough to meet Finn’s eyes. “They’ve been arguing over who gets to sign your hospital wristband like it’s a yearbook.” He squeezed Finn’s hand gently. “I told them you’re okay, but some are still hanging around. Just face it, babe. You’re loved.”

finn watched the concern on his boyfriend’s face and his stomach dropped, guilt settling heavy in his chest for making puck worry so much. he reached for his hand when puck pulled away, giving it a tight squeeze. “i’m sorry, babe. i would’ve called you, but…” he trailed off, unsure how to explain it. he didn’t even know how he’d ended up in the hospital, and that thought filled him with dread. “fuck, surgery? that’s gonna cost a fortune.” he gulped, already dreading the copay that would show up in the mail. “i’m good? sorta. i don’t feel anything, but i remember how bad it hurt. i couldn’t even walk, and that’s the last thing i remember.” he shifted over on the hospital bed, raising his arm to keep the iv line out of the way. “come cuddle me, i think you need more comforting than i do right now.”

Puck hadn’t meant to make Finn feel bad; he just couldn’t help worrying. He was way too soft for him, and he wasn’t about to hide it. “Hey, you don’t have anything to apologize for, I swear. I’m just glad you’re okay.” He gave a lopsided grin, brushing a stray strand of hair from Finn’s forehead. “Apparently one of your students called an ambulance — thank god. Honestly, it won’t be a huge hit on the wallet. But, hey… I’d happily pay if you’d let me. I make good money now, so consider it an investment in keeping my favorite person alive.” He eased onto the edge of the bed carefully, giving Finn plenty of space. “I’m glad it’s not hurting anymore, but… fuck, I wish you didn’t have to go through that.” His fingers raked through Finn’s hair, slow and soothing, and his voice softened. “And did you know half the waiting room out there is filled with your students?” Puck’s smirk returned, playful but warm. “You always say you’re not sure you made an impression on them… but I think that proves otherwise. Guess they already know how lucky they are to have you.”

The second Puck heard Finn had been rushed to the hospital, his stomach dropped. Panic hit before he could even process it, and the drive over was a blur of red lights and worst-case scenarios running through his head. It wasn’t until the nurse told him Finn was stable that he could breathe again; barely. He stuck around the lobby for what felt like forever, needing something to do with his hands, so he wandered into the hospital gift shop. By the time he finally stepped into Finn’s room, his arms were full — flowers, a bunch of mismatched balloons, and a stuffed bear that was almost too big to carry. The thing’s face was weirdly lopsided, a little creepy even, but he figured Finn would get a laugh out of it. “No, thank god,” Puck said as he set everything down on the windowsill. “But I thought I might have when I heard the news.” His face softened, eyes sweeping over Finn like he still couldn’t quite believe he was okay. “You scared the shit outta me, man.” He stepped closer, gently brushing Finn’s matted hair back from his forehead, the tenderness in the gesture saying more than he could. “They said it was your appendix. How are you feeling?” His thumb lingered for a second before he pulled his hand back, trying to shake the edge out of his voice.
