jeter and arod met thru a mutual friend back in 1993, jeter said he was 18 yrs old and arod was 17 but in another video arod said he was 16 while jeter was 17 so u can choose to believe which one. it was a college baseball game in miami, jeters college vs arods college but they also spoke on the phone prior to that meeting as well. jeter mentioned he rmrs arod asking so many questions since jeter was already drafted by the yankees and constantly asked him what to do etc etc but the two hit it off immediately! both had alot in common being the same age, playing the same position (shortstop) and both starting in the league around the same time. in fact before they even met, arod used to read a baseball magazine called baseball america and he saw jeter in it and thought he was his same color skin, same height and weight and from a small town in michigan and got drafted by the yankees in the first round so if he can do that so can arod so he admired him from the very start

jeetrod became inseparable in the 90s. once arod finally got drafted first overall by the mariners they just got even closer and closer. any time the mariners played the yankees, arod would stay with jeter in his apartment and vice versa any time the yankees played the mariners jeter would stay with arod and yall im talking multiple sleepovers like arod would stay at jeters place 4 or 5 times a WEEK it was constant like basically every week. jeter would also make arod breakfast!!! every time their two teams played each other they would talk on the field smile and laugh and giggle i wish i was making this up

arod was becoming a free agent in the end of the 2000 season and the mariners couldnt afford him long story short yall know the history, arod signs the biggest contract in SPORTS at the time $252 million for 10 years with the texas rangers thus begins the hate train for arod who basically goes from a golden boy to prime shawn michaels in canada hate overnight. dont get me started abt that thats not wat this post is abt. so we will ignore it.

now to give yall some background abt arod here on this arc i feel is very important, arods father left his family when he was 10 yrs old this messed him up greatly and it will still come into play even after his baseball career was over once he finally seen a therapist i highly recommend his doc to see that side of him. that being said arod was extremely insecure he constantly needed praise and reassurance. he got famous and had been given so much money at a young age that that caused a recipe for disaster. when he met his now ex wife and mother of two kids at the time she even said she felt bad for him bc she knew he wasnt fully developed, he never got to experience life and with his father not being in the picture he didnt have that role model to look up to (he did have coaches where he mentions were like father figures in his life) so all of that would add up to being one mistake after another for arod. the complete opposite of jeter who had both of his loving parents by his side and never made a mistake

that being said i just felt it was fair to mention that so yall can atleast see how troubled he was and he had no idea that he needed help he was so self centered and a narcissist he couldnt see it so u can form ur own opinion on him thats fine just know a lil abt the situation first hand!!!

ANYWAY jeter just got done with whole fuckin dynasty the yankees winning 4 world series titles in 5 years while the mariners did not.

newly signed ranger arod goes on a radio show and mentions that jeter isnt a shortstop that is worth that kind of money that he received as jeter was also entering free agency, what possessed arod to say this? i have no clue but jeter let this go bc it was just one comment but then arod does it again. this is the time everyone knows the famous esquire interview where arod says along the words that jeter only won those rings bc of the players around him and the team he had, it wasnt bc of him and that pitchers would say u dont let jeter beat u. til this day arod believes wat he said wasnt rly wrong and even jeter agrees but jeter said he would never do that to friend he would never bad mouth a friend to the media and that was strike two. thats it. arod is out completely. jeter keeps his circle small and extremely close and once u fuck that up its done u will never go back there again and thats exactly what happened he dropped arod.

arod would then call the interviewer who wrote the article begging him to help him bc jeter is mad at him and that he didnt mean it the way the writer has transcribed. he begged him to do something so then the writer would send a fax to jeter saying he apologize for what he wrote and that arod didnt mean it as maliciously as it was written etcetc. jeter til this day says he never received that fax. dont let me catch that writer on my street man.

so arod would then GO to jeters house to beg for forgiveness but jeter wasnt there so he stood outside his home in florida for hrs waiting for him. it was reported jeter was at a restaurant and that he KNEW arod was at his door and purposely made him wait there

it was believed eventually they talked it thru and arod seemed apologetic once they finally talked that night but again u mess up once with jeter thats it its over so their relationship was never the same after that. no more dinners no more sleepovers just business.

from arod texas years (2001-2003) there wasnt rly anything reported from them BUT i just cant see it being this blood hate between them when u have these moments here

so again it wasnt this blind hatred, it was more of ur not in my circle anymore we just keep it cordial. but the media stated otherwise, the media was so obsessed with them and that article from 2001 lit a fire that deadass would never go away abt their relationship, now they finally have something to hold on to and to have traction to their articles and they would only get more to eat

the rangers were absolute shit but arod was having his best career years there while also winning the mvp in 2003 (he shouldve won in 2002 as well but thats another story) but he wanted to win he was seeing teams in the playoffs (jeter and yankees) and he wanted to be apart of that bro was thirsty for it. well it was good timing bc the owner of the rangers called arod and said they cant afford him anymore and they have to trade him so he wanted arod to give him his 3 teams he would like to go. arod would then state the teams were red sox, mets, and angels. the angels for the weather and they were good at the time and the red sox and mets for well…. yall can take a guess. jeter. arod mentioned red sox for the rivalry with jeter it would be good for baseball and the mets for the crosstown rivalry between the two shortstops in new york, these are real reasons he said. the rangers gm was close to a deal with the red sox like rly close but it fell thru yall can read abt all this on ur own if u want so arod was stuck in limbo again.

then at his mvp award dinner the yankees gm brian cashman was there for some reason and told him hey if u ever think abt switching over at third maybe we can make something happen, how could arod refuse? he said yes after a few drinks (no bullshit arod said this) and in two weeks HE WAS A YANKEEEEE

yankees asked jeter if it was alright for arod to come over and join them which ofc he says its fine. jeter mentioned many times he doesnt have to like u to be teammates as long as ur here to win thats all that matters to him. the yankees thought it would be a good idea for jeter to be at the press conference that welcomes arod to the team to show theres no ill will there between them so he did, in fact jeter allegedly flew on the same plane with arod to new york for it. jeter at the presser was the one to put the yankee jersey on arod to truly show everything is fine here everyone

now ppl formed their own opinion on that matter saying jeter looked completely miserable and in some pics u can see he was making a face but jeter said himself he was fine when he brought up how his face was lmao u can make ur own argument bc there was also pics of him smiling so whos to know rly

jeter would start the 2004 season in the worse start he has ever had in his major league career and ofc the media portrayed it as bc of arod, and arod was also dealing with his own struggles trying to play 3rd for the first time in his whole baseball playing life. u can tell it clearly wasnt jelling together yet. in the book the captain by ian o’connor he mentioned an old friend of jeters told him that arod joining the yankees was a huge mistake and that he will never win a world series again if arod continues to be on the team and he should do something abt it (like wat? take him out on the kneecaps? relax). arod at this time now has a reputation of being completely selfish and full of himself, he only cared abt his own numbers and just was the complete opposite of jeter. but again if u help the team win jeter can care less

in jeter’s doc they talked abt a time one day in 2004 it was a rain delay and jeter was sitting in the dugout alone, arod mentioned in this doc as well that it felt like a scene from a movie, and then arod joins jeter and asks him hey are we ok? and jeter responds with idk and that he was talking with his dad and he just doesnt understand why arod would come to the yankees and switch positions he doesnt understand wat his deal was he couldnt trust him basically. jeter said he just wouldnt do the same in his position he wouldnt give up shortstop. so arod told him if the yankees wanted him to comer over and take jeters spot he would decline and go back texas he always respected jeter and didnt want to cause drama in that way, jeter himself til this day gives arod credit for that bc arod never once complained abt playing third or wanting to play short. not once.

the yankees in 2004 played great regardless of the circus and winded up one win away from the world series but yeah yeah they lost to the red sox yeah yeah we get it anyway moving on

these years are the years where i cant even argue against, they just did not like each other, more so jeter didnt like arod and i wouldnt say it was a hate jeter didnt hate arod but stated in the captain book he just didnt like being arods teammate. allegedly during this time it was incredibly tense in the lockerroom between them, old teammate gary sheffield mentioned once u can feel the tension and the yankees had to make jeter and arod go to to dinner and to fix this issue all while themselves telling the media that they are fine. it got so bad to a point that brian cashman had to step in and tell jeter to stop being so cold towards arod and to let him in, try to get along with him. allegedly another friend told jeter this as well to just try and as mentioned in the captain book he tried but arod would do something that would push him away again. supposedly jeter and arod never once argued or physically fought in the clubhouse, it was just tension.

but on the field? it seemed all that tension went away bc they would smile and hug and high five like its nothing they must be some rly good actors lets get the academy

now the infamous and i mean INFAMOUS dropped pop up happened in 2006. both arod and jeter collided during a pop up in the infield causing the ball to drop and the orioles to score a run. jeter looked at arod for a second and walked away u can clearly see he was annoyed, supposedly they went back in the dugout and laughed abt it but that did not matter the deed was done they just gave the media the actual proof that they didnt get along and just ran with it thats all they needed. that pop up til this day is used as proof they hated each other and now in current times both arod and jeter can actually laugh abt it

arod is becoming more of a distraction for the yankees which jeter hates. arod publicly cheated on his wife, fucked madonna, got caught shirtless out in manhattan sunbathing with his titties out u name it arod did it. during these mid 2000s years, players coaches and yankee fans would jump on arod and neither manager joe torre or the captain of the team derek jeter stood up for him. jeter was supposed to be the captain and defend his players regardless if he didnt believe wat hes saying or regardless on how he felt abt the player but he simply did not do that for arod. red sox players constantly shit on arod, jeter says it has nothing to do with him, yankee fans boo arod and jeter says nothing but when the fans were booing chuck knoblauch or anyone else he would tell the fans to give them a break, but not arod. torre nor jeter felt the need to defend arod publicly even tho the man won two mvps for them in 05 and 07. jeter always defended jason giambi when he got accused of using peds during this time but still nothing for arod in the media. now arod did this to himself, all the mistakes he made is on him but to not defend him in a player stand point is crazy to me but thats my opinion doesnt matter anyway!!! one of these years arod started the season telling the media if i tell u wat rly happened between me and jeter u promise not to ask anymore abt it, so he mentioned how they are just not close anymore as they were in the 90s no sleepovers no dinners nothing

before the party can begin lets start with drama. arod was on a list that tested positive for performance enhancing drugs back in 2001. arod said he took them bc he felt the pressure of his contract he just signed and felt he needed to perform to make the rangers investment worth it. at the time peds wasnt illegal in baseball as they were not testing for it so he technically couldnt get in trouble for it but he took it upon himself to come clean so in feb 2009 he held a press conference and jeter with the rest of the yankees were in attendance with jeter front row to announce he did take peds in 2001 and that he apologize. he wanted 2009 to be on a clean slate and to let everything out there. jeter finally states to the media that the yankees will stay by his side but states again and again that not everyone takes steroids

2009 turns out to being the saving grace for jeetrod, with arod free to just be himself hes also having another outlook in life hes just going out there and playing the game of baseball. once he came back from hip surgery in may 2009 the yankees never looked back. jeter and arod were as playful as ever on the field

arod in 2013 tested positive for peds once again, he was dealing with alot of injuries and since his body was older it was taking longer to heal and he had this shady ass friend who sent him to a “doctor” who now got in trouble for giving HGH to multiple athletes with arod being one of them. everything is crumbling for arod once again and bud selig the mlb commissioner at the time was going to make arod an example suspending arod for the entirety of the 2014 season which would be the longest suspension in mlb history. mind u there were other mlb players who tested positive at the same time and got a lesser suspension so arod took this fight himself and decided to appeal. it was an ugly fight between arod and the mlb and his entire reputation, well whats left of it, was being thrown away. he gave in and served his suspension and missed the 2014 season and coincidentally enough that would be jeters last year, jeter decided to call it career and retired at the end of the 2014 season. there wasnt reports of anything between the two of them during this time that i can find. arod mentioned on the r2c2 podcast that he learned alot that year and saw how fake some ppl was towards him not contacting him during this time and made him realize who his true friends were. now im not saying jeter was apart of that bc arod never bad mouthed him ever again in media since 2001 he learned his lesson lmao and whos to say jeter did reach out, no one knows but there will be no reports on jeetrod all the way until 2017 and well ……this is all the proof u need that they break up again

arod returned to baseball in 2015 and ends up retiring in 2016 and in 2017 there was an interview between jeter and arod and to say its awkward is an understatement. i cant even watch it i get second hand embarrassment rly easily and honestly the interviewer was being messy, the event was for charity and bro was not asking questions abt it. jeter looked visibly uncomfortable and clearly did Not want to be there. it was alleged that jeter didnt know he was going to do the interview with arod and got angry. clearly these mfs broke up again and mind u arod was smiling the whole time lmao and that would be the last time we seen them interact that we know of

jeetrod are doing their own things in retirement, jeter owning the miami marlins and arod working on fox and espn at the time while also being a real estate king, he was even a shark on shark tank, crazy stuff hes having the biggest comeback ever. jeter is in middle of making his documentary now this is solely my opinion and prediction, but jeter mentioned he and arod had a dinner (its always a dinner yall) and just talked abt everything and im guessing as well to have arod be in jeters doc to talk his side on their relationship which ofc he said yes

later on that year jeter is a guest on arods mlb on fox show during the world series that year in philly, he hugs arod and everything is running smoothly so smooth that jeter, who is kinda jobless at this time as he is no longer the marlins owner, had so much fun that when they asked jeter if he wanted to join the fox table with them he said yes. fox went to arod and asked if it was ok to bring in jeter (man how the tables have turned) and ofc he was gonna say yes mentioning in an ig post hes thrilled to be his teammate again

u guys we reached the promise land once again jeetrod is literally the best they have ever been arod even said they are in the best place they have been in the last 20 years and man u can just tell. they are friends again they are truly friends again laughing and joking and working on fox

arod back in 2014 went to see therapy and it saved his life and he reflected inwards and had to repair himself and hes such a different person now its insane and jeter as well having to change and letting grudges go and now they are two old men talking abt the game of baseball together again just like when they were kids
